Maths and the rest of us

in #mathematics7 years ago

Last week I asked my maths teacher: “of what use math actually is?”. To be honest her answer didn’t matter. I was convinced that maths for it most part was some kind of perverse pleasure some people get out of mindf$^&g the less smart; at best a mind tennis some psycho invented.
Few days later I started trying to figure out how they came up with maths. If you think about it, it’s righteousness is not so obvious. It seems a little bit too perfect to be a lucky event.
Before I move on please keep in mind I don’t know much about maths or anything else for that matter, just a student wandering.

THE THEORY OF FINITES ELEMENTS

Before we go back to math and what it has to do with us let explore what I call finite theory, which will explain part of how math is always right(that ch$ck).
It goes like this, Infinity doesn’t exist. In reality math always happen in well define environments (The domain of a function is an example). When there is a conflict in math(In which case math can be proved wrong), rules are defines to prevent that. If we want to parallel math to real life infinity will probably be an operation involving astronomical quantities. These are the time when we all give up and say things like our current maths are too simple for those operations. We have the same attitude toward large problems. Most of the time we overestimate the complexity of big problems. An example is human tissues, on a cellular level are huge and complex but they still are just a bunch of cells. And a fraction of that tissue is enough for most studies. To put this in math paradigm, although the function x^2 Domain is ( neg inf ; pos inf) a much more restrictive domain will show us the function behavior as well. An other good example I can think about is how we can literally count indefinitely, or for the sake of cleanness of argument(whatever that mean) let say we can count to a trillion. But nobody had to learn individual numbers from 1 to a trillion. We only learned 0 to 9 and some mechanisms(patterns) to describe any quantity up to a trillion. The same way the universe is freaking vast and complexes but make of relatively very much less elements. If you consider the elements as your domain(those are literally the elements that make the world exist), the universe(or world) is some kind of super complex mathematics formula, with a finite nature(definite number of elements by nature, that is for example all leaving being can be reduced to carbon, hydrogen and oxygen) .
Now if you though I found that formula…
Let’s talk about our personal relation with math. Before I proceed let me clarify, I am not trying to sell you the cliche every maths teacher want us to buy about how math is in our everyday life and what not( I have personally never met pi, square cubic and all those exotic maths entities). It’s math seen from a normal guy(me) perspective.

MATHS AND OUR MIND

The whole world is technically a chemical reaction under physical laws. So every thing in existence is some equation with few variable, In respect of the theory of finite elements(two different things may be made of the same elements). Our senses and life experience perceive these equations (patterns) and build our reality.

AND FINALLY
there is some kind of reverse engineering that we do on nature to try to find it's laws and that have lead to mathematics which kind of synthesize all the laws as we receive it.

It took me a long time to come up with this idea and I am still thinking about it, if you like the Idea please upvote and share and if you have a better idea please post it in the comments

Cheers :-)
