Hope A Lack There of and Found

in #mcdonalds8 years ago

In 2009 I was living in a homeless shelter with my two toddlers. There were many restrictions placed on me that weren't placed on other mothers in the shelter. No one was allowed to help me with my children or watch them. I was not allowed to receive diapers donated by the community, to mothers like myself in need. I did not have any help on the outside either. I was unable to obtain employment, as no one was allowed to watch my children for me. One night sitting in the community dining area of the shelter I looked into my two year old sons big brown puppy eyes and couldn't help but feel my children deserve better! I made a phone call to DCS for temporary placement. 14 months later after jumping through their hoops, going through rehabilitation, and working I was just as lost as I was the night I called for help. I prayed for clarity in what to do. The next morning while visiting my children my 2 year old, now 3 put his hand on my right cheek looked into my eyes and said, "it's ok Mommy, they love us." I decided to adopt my boys to a loving couple. What McDonald's is giving these people is something I myself did not receive, "hope". What they are doing is amazing and I hope this spreads as their food chain has! Spreading hope is a great start to a bright new future with all that is going on in the world today. Keep spreading HOPE! Great job McDonalds!
