RE: What if Steemit could tell you the original creator of an image or article?

Thank you for the support! I like their proposal as well, simply because I think we need to attack this at different angles and see what sticks. To clarify, cheetah doesn't "flag" on detection, it more "notifies". Flagging implies downvoting here, which it does not do from detection, since it cannot be certain.
Also, @anyx, not @anz! :)

OMG, I am so sorry about the misspelling on your name. I've updated the post.
Ok you built the bot, you know what it does and does not do better than I ever possibly could.
I still don't see the value add to a system like @jessewalden is proposing though. Maybe I'm just bitter having 2 years of work stolen from me with absolutely no recourse.

Systems like this worry me. Every time I read these proposals and they do come out every day or two on some forum or another, it's always "protect content, blockchain!" without any real thought into how a system like that would impact creators in a real world scenario, especially if they get big.

Oh crap, you beat me to it. I saw that google charges $5 per 1,000 searches. The idea of the bot was going to do exactly the same thing. In other words, I think you made the right design decisions in only notifying rather than flagging, precisely due to the kinds of reasons @williambanks gave above.
