Preface
With the emergence of the blockchain technology, the internet was open a whole lot of new possibilities, including free trade with no middle intermediaries to Influence the transactions and activities on this platforms.
Since the advent of Bitcoin in 2009, blockchain technology having dealt with the problems of distrust and transaction delay due to middleman influence, have extended to touch so many areas like money exchange, internet bandwidth etc In my article today, I will discuss on a new aspect In which the blockchain technology has reached out to, which is the medical data industry.
The current medical record platforms tend to show great demerits, the most pressing challenges are insecurity of medical data, distrust and proness to data loss in cases of fire incidents, flooding etc.
Although there are various platforms which promise solutions to this problems, their nature of centralization tends to limit such platforms. Medibloc is offering effective changes and has introduced to the internet a whole new world full of possibilities.
problems of the present day medical record platforms:
- Non-digitalized records are prone and susceptible to theft and loss of Data due to disasters like fire and flood etc.
digitalized but centralised platforms e.g Apples health app
The platforms are highly centralized, hence most decisions on data sharing are controlled by medical institutions, most atimes without the authorization of the patients.
This platforms are prone to hacks and other malicious attacks from external intelligence
Medibloc, its advantages and used cases
Medibloc is an open-source health care record storage Platform built on the blockchain technology. Records such as diagnostic results, individual Body chemistry e.g Blood group etc could be included in the account of the individual as he approves.
What Medibloc has to offer
The advantages of this platform over others are based on its decentralized nature, they include:
The complex identity of health care information will be digitized and power of attorney I.e decision making, will be channeled back to the patients.
Patients spend less and save time as access to health records is easier also, they can exchange their data for money from researchers, this also gives the patients extra incentives.
With this kind of information or data, neatly and correctly arranged helps researcher and practitioners to achieve medical breakthroughs at very great rates all over the globe. Having clear info on patients health status from the platform ensures quality treatment and health care.
In cases of insurance transactions and claims, there is total ease in acquiring coverage, due to the fact that all needed information are already validated and comprehensively configured, then it can be shared at great speed and less stress with the insurer.
The platform is greatly interoperable, it will allow various platform applications to be connected using medical data of patients, as decided and validated by the patients themselves.
Vision of the platform
It wouldn't be right to complete this post without the platform's vision.
The platform began with two doctors who projected to tackle the present challenges of the health information system with the blockchain technology. This platform intends to develop an ecosystem for storage and distribution of healthcare information

This is an interesting concept but I am confused as to who holds the encryption key to the data? Is it the doctor? The patient? The health care administrator?
Would the app be allowed on a cell phone etc?
If you lose your phone can it be hacked to reveal your info?
Is the blockchain only allowed to be stored on certain authorized computers?
Thanks for reading my post, prior to your questions I can answer but few, the app is supported on smartphones like android, iOS etc, and the encryption keys are held by patients who may include family as alternatives In cases of emergency or critical situations if memory loss.
For the rest of the questions you can join follow their link in the post to learn more about it, thanks
