The pink post. (Breast cancer)

in #medicine8 years ago (edited)

Today I woke up and said. "This Sunday will be of prevention" so here is the result .

It is a truth universally acknowledged that a woman in possession of risk factors for breast cancer must be in want of a mammography.

Breast cancer doesn't discriminate,  is the most common cancer in women, regardless of race and the most common cause of cancer death in Hispanic women.

I speak truly and with the heart in my hand, with or without risk factors. Explore yourself, use the mammography and ultrasound. Is not a might or could, is a WOULD save your life if is detected on time.

Earlier detection of breast cancer through imaging has reduced the mortality by about one-third. The outcomes are more favorable when the disease is detected at early stages and is thus  susceptible  to early intervention.

Here is a list of risk factors:

  • Age: + 50 yrs.
  • Personal history of breast cancer.
  • Taking hormone therapy for symptoms of menopause
  • Family history of breast cancer in a first- or second-degree relative.
  • Genetic predisposition: the genetic mutations more common are BRCA1 & BRCA2.
  • Personal or family history of ovarian cancer in a first- or second-degree relative.
  • Menstruation: at age 11 or younger.
  • Starting menopause at a later age.

The life style we have is a risk factor if you:

  • Have Obesity.
  • Consume alcohol.
  • Do nothing of exercise.

Not everything is bad news, fortunately by changing this last 3 risk factors you can reduce the provability of having breast cancer.

So you just have to eat healthy, reduce the consume of alcohol or just don’t drink it and do exercise from moderate to high intensity approximately 90 min per day, and the risk will reduce at least 25 %. .

If you haven’t work out in your live and want to begin, don’t go all Michael Phepls on your first day of exercise, go on your own rhythm till you gain condition and become stronger (maybe I will do a post about exercising and the benefits of it).

I know that is easier to say it than do it, but by doing it we are increasing the possibilities of living more time surrounded by our love ones... so I think is worth it. Please encourage your wife, sister, mother, friend, etc. to be examined.

This are some symptoms of breast cancer.

  • Swelling of all or part of the breast
  • Skin irritation or dimpling
  • Breast pain
  • A lump in the underarm area
  • Nipple pain or the nipple turning inward
  • Redness, scaliness, or thickening of the nipple or breast skin
  • A nipple discharge other than breast milk, it could be blood.

To the male population, remember that you are not except to this cancer, for you have breast tissue too.

Personally, I will drag my mom to @imaxess if I have to for her mammography.

Ok I exaggerated but I will surely insist.
