What are you really attracting to you right now?
For many decades, people have wandered through life, achieving different levels of success in whatever their agenda was at that period of their life. Some can say that living successfully enables them to have a happy life, free of worries and pain. But everyone has in fact their own idea of what real success is, according to their own standard and style of living.
Our set belief of success
The happiest person in the world could be the poor villager in Zambia, while the richest guy in the world could be having the deepest depression heard of. Many people want to set the financial status as the landmark of who is truly successful in life, but ultimately reach the conclusion that something like being happy is much closer to the real truth for each person in the world. But what has that really got to do with The Law of Attraction everyone seems to be talking about when mentioning the ever so many laws of success and happiness. There are many so called self-help and/or spiritual gurus and authors (Napoleon Hill, Brian Tracy, Jack Canfield, Tony Robbins, Kahlil Gibran, Yogananda, Jose Silva, Rhonda Byrne, to name a few) that have spent a big portion of their life studying the laws of success and portray all kinds of ways to help people reach their goals. Each guru has different background and levels of specialized expertise, coming from different culture and perspective of life. What has been very interesting to discover over the years is to see what most of these gurus and authors seem to passionately agree on, after all their different paths of discoveries and reflecting, which is, the true power of The Law of Attraction.
Are you really using the magnificent force of the law of attraction?
To be able to use The Law of Attraction, one must first have some idea of what one wants in their life. As mentioned earlier, everyone has a different way of living and their own perspective in life, with different goals, hopes and dreams, so each person must do an honest inner search for what they truly wish for. What might come to a big surprise to many, is that we are all in fact using The Law of Attraction every day, every minute, every bit of a second.
You are in fact constantly broadcasting your strongest magnet!
In most cases we do this without realising it. We could hardly get through our day without having our mind almost constantly providing us with thoughts on all kinds of information, with quite varying usefulness. Everyone knows how it is to be worried about something, or totally disliking some person their life, or being stressed out for a project to be delivered, difficulties in relationship or financial issues. So often it seems that the negative thoughts get much more space in our brains than our positive thoughts, which can truthfully be far greater in numbers and strength than we realise. The common people are not really into thinking about what they are thinking, and why should they? Everyone has their own right to choose their path in life and focus on the things they want in life. But here is the dilemma. The Law of Attraction suggests that whatever you think about most of the time, you get more of it. Another version of the same principle, from Huna (ancient Hawaiian Shamanism) is “Energy flows where attention goes”. This is the same conclusion as many of the gurus, who have rightfully earned their title through years of studying and discovery, have made, using their own unique way of communication. There are many ways to explain this and multiple versions from different eras in time, depending upon the level of self awareness of the speaker, as well as the listener’s level of understanding. Things like this can very easily get complicated and difficult for people to understand, but when the threads of explanations get tangled together within the neurons-network of the listener, it is always good to go the most simplistic route. Let’s take the native people of Hawaii, who are famous for their Aloha spirit. Their whole philosophy is not only based on friendly acceptance towards everyone, but it also displays a “powerful way to resolve any problem, accomplish any goal, and also achieve any state of mind or body that you desire.” (1)
What do you truly wish for?
So now, people need to take one step back and actually realise what is it that they actually want. There is often a big misunderstanding that what we want, is the same things as what we really need. If you really give it a good thought, you might soon discover that there are many things you wish to have, but you don’t really need them for anything else than a short-term bliss. And what you really need isn’t always what you really want. People’s wishes aren’t always fully thought through, but eventually each person conclusively realises what things in life are truly important, and therefore begin to give more attention to it. For many, it can be quite difficult to put their finger on what they truly want to have, how they want their life to be, so going the reverse way about it can help. That is to make a list of everything that we don’t want in our life, since it is usually very easy to think about everything that is wrong. Then we take this list and write on the other half of the page, the complete opposite of what we don’t want, so we should end up with quite a good list of what we truly want. The more we can put our daily minds towards thinking about the things we want in our life, and therefore less focus on the things we don’t want, we are truly taking the first steps in beginning to take better control of our life, and allow the universal laws to act more in our favor. Be aware of the possible stress factors in your everyday life, before they get their usual control over you. People who base their life on reason and hard facts, like “what you see is what you get” are almost self-qualified into the non-believer-group of this science, who typically won’t believe anything until they can fullfill one of their mottos “seeing is believing”, and that is perfectly all right, since each person needs to go their own path of discovering how the world works. The basic fact still remains the same, without any scientific proof needed. If you think and talk constantly about negative things, all you get is more negative things. If you think and talk constantly about positive things, surprise surprise, you are going to get more positive things into your life.
Levels of emotion
But thinking is just one part of this. Each thought we have, has a different level of emotion attached to it. The deeper the emotion, the more powerful the thought. If there is absolutely no emotion behind a certain thought we have, let’s say if we are thanking someone, then the correspondent will easily know that you don’t really mean what you are saying, and you might lose part of your credibility. When you truly put your heart into thanking someone, even possibly followed with a warm hug, then you will get an honest and respectful feedback. To help us to better connect emotion to the things we want into our life, it is a well established method to create a vision board, where you just take a piece of paper, and paste on it all kind of photos you cut out of magazines and brochures, something you personally connect with, photos of things you truly want in your life, whether it is a summer vacation, new car, a happy relationship, successful business ventures, the pair of glasses you always wanted etc. When the vision board is ready, you place it on a wall where you will see it every day, preferably in your bedroom (so you will see it each time you go to sleep, and when you get out of bed). Every time you see the vision board, you are reminded of the thing each photo stands for, and it helps you remind yourself of the feeling (the emotion) that belongs to it, and that way you are he artfully and actively making the best use of The Law of Attraction in your life. With that in mind, we can take it one step further to actually analyse a little bit what kind of photos where into the vision board. A study that was performed by researchers in the University of Minnesota, and consisted of children who were asked to create a collage of things that fuelled their happiness. The children who focused more on pictures of cars, money, jewelry were lower self-worth, than the children who chose photos which portrayed friends, family and activities (Lorimer, 3).
The universal law of attraction
According to Esther Hicks, “The Law of Attraction, is not something that you need to practice, or even something that you can practice, for it is a Law that exists in every particle of the Universe – and it just is.” Just like the law of gravity, it just is, and works whether we think about it or not. “The Law of Attraction simply and accurately reflects back to you in a myriad of ways an accurate response to your vibrational [emotional] output” (42). Additionally, Esther writes from her source of wisdom, “The Law of Attraction is responding to the thoughts that you hold at all times, it is accurate to say that you are creating your own reality” (30). If so many people from different times, ages, cultures and background seem to come to a similar conclusion, after a great time of learning and reflecting, that there is some universal force out there and around us, that simply works this way, whether we realise it or not, it is quite likely that me and you will come to a similar conclusion as well, or at least become more aware of its nature and how it works. Then again, it is also very easy to stick to the good old saying “Ignorance is bliss” and just keep on living our lives as we have until now, and then wonder why we never seem to get anywhere, except for getting more of what we already have, which ignites the remembrance of a quote from Jack Canfield “If you keep on doing what you’ve always done, you’ll keep on getting what you always got” (10). But does it really work? Does it really work this way?
Everyone has a choice.
Everyone has the ability to decide for themselves which path to take, one that leads to more awareness, or less awareness. The Law of Attraction will keep on being, just like gravity will always be, as long as we are not floating in space somewhere, working as astronauts. You can face the challenge of trying this out, see how and if it works for you. The more you try it, the more you discover how you are already using it, with the rising possibility of empowering it even more. Let’s end this with a well-known statement from the Hawaiian’s Aloha philosophy, which represents a great and simple way to work with The Law of Attraction, “Bless everyone and everything that represents what you want!” (3).
Let there be light,
