In today's world unfortunately people are shameless and are ready to abuse
people's symapthy. I see so many beggars, charity cases of people who don't need it but still do it because it's an easy buck. I'm have less and less sypamthy for people I don't know.
I guess that is one grave problem with people being reluctant to give.
They are unaware of someone's position in life or may be apprehensive of what the person may spend the money.
It is a hard problem to tackle as there is no easy way to differentiate between the genuine and insincere

it looks like he was a wise man!
I like to think so.
Great words man great influence you have
Sympathy is something really interesting as it seems to be something that is contagious. It spreads from one man to another as they feel they have the moral duty to do something loving towards someone else after they experience consolation themselves.
one of the hardest lessons is to have sympathy at all for some who just seem rotten all the way through , such is life I suppose
Only a wise man can interpret sympathy very well.
