Use meditation and relaxation to reduce stress and stay healthy

in #meditation7 years ago (edited)

Do you think that your life is stressful? If so, you are not alone. An online survey by the American Psychological Association showed that almost 75% of Americans who responded stated that their stress levels are so high that they feel unhealthy.

Studies by Dr. Herbert Benson showed the scientific benefits of meditation and how it promotes good health. He stated that the regular practice of “Relaxation Response” or "meditation", can be an effective treatment for stress reduction.

Individuals who practice meditation on a regular basis can lower stress levels and improve overall happiness. According to Dr. Benson, the Relaxation Response is a physical state of deep relaxation which turns off the (fight or flight) sympathetic nervous system and employs the parasympathetic nervous system.

My favourite form of meditation is guided meditation & visualisation using brainwave audio technology that can influence alpha, beta, theta, delta and gamma brain waves (Brain Sync). I try to listen to my guided relaxation meditation everyday to de-stress. I also travel at least once a year to a hot, all-inclusive destination to “unplug” and relax in order to keep my sanity, lol.

Here are a couple of pictures of my vacation in November to Los Cabos, Mexico. I highly recommend the Riu resorts to everybody! You can party like crazy or just relax... it's your choice.

I literally float for a couple hours, relaxing and meditating to the sound of the water.
