The National Memorial at Savar is the symbol of nations respect to the brave martyrs of the Great War of Independence, who made supreme sacrifice to liberate their mother land.
The National Memorial has been constructed at Savar Upazila, 35 kilometres north-east of the Capital Dhaka, having an area of 44 hectares. The memorial has been established to commemorate a bloody battle at Savar in December 1971, the ultimate victory of the freedom fighters, their heroism and sacrifice. The design of Architect Syed Mainul Hossain was selected from among 57 best designs. The construction work of the main structure, artificial lake and garden was completed in 1982.

There are artificial water lands, gardens and graveyards in the complex area. One will immense love for the country and bow down ones head in respect for the martyrs while visiting the memorial. The complex remains open from 6 am to 6 pm every day and the entry is free.
There is direct Dhaka to national memorial BRTC bus service. Besides, there are other private companies’ bus services.
