Sometimes in life you run into small nuggets of awesome memories. When I was just a little kid, we had two Nintendo Game & Watch handhelds ... and I’m talking Way WAAAAAY before gameboy here. When my mom passed away in 2010, we had to clear the house for sale. Amongst the things were the handhelds which I took home and have forgotten about since then.

The other day, when I came home after work, one of them, Donkey Kong II, was lying on the table. My 5 year old found it and wanted me to show him how it’s played !!

My wife had already bought the batteries so I could show him.

The game is split in a top and bottom screen. You have to navigate (Didi Kong ?) passed crocodiles jumping over them while avoiding overhead electrics on the bottom screen. Top screen has you avoidng more crocs & birds. The goal is to free Donkey Kong with the key you pick up when you start. You have to do this 4 times to unleash Donkey. Then the stage is reset with Donkey in chains. The ultimate goal being a high score

I’ve already been enjoying modern day mario co-op with My boy but this brought back those awesome childhood memories playing these day-omdat-out during summer holidays.

Now where did I leave that Mario Bros. Game & Watch handheld 🤔

Klassieker, die ken ik ook nog!👍 Als de Sint vannacht langskomt speel ik morgen Mario Galaxy met mijn jongens. 😄🙏
Veel plezier.

Mario Odyssey bedoel ik...😀

Was it an offical Nintendo product?

Yeah it is.

Keep looking! It's so nice to relive your own childhood.

I asked my brother. He doesn’t have it so it must be somewhere at my place. I’ll find it !

I do remember these games we got from dad like yesterday. We had so much fun with them! So nice to see my nephews get to relive our experience!
