I think it's more about what the car does for me. With this one it provided freedom which, at the time, was required for various reasons. It's funny to think that only 15 months after getting this car I was out of home and living my own life. So yeah, not so much the vehicle, more what it provided.

Ease of movement is definitely a thing. I remember being restricted in rentals by what was near public transport because I didn't have a car and couldn't save up for one (long story there, but it didn't bother me too much because after getting access to a car it turns out I hate city driving anyway).
