Hi everyone!
So awhile ago I started selling on Mercari and Poshmark, and I have had very different experiences with both.
I started with Poshmark, which has been a hit among many and is mainly used for selling clothes.
Poshmark was pretty much a failure for me. You can't see how many people viewed your items, you can only see likes. I didn't receive any offers despite offering lower prices to my likers.
After the Poshmark disaster, I decided to download Mercari, which can be used to sell all sorts of objects.
I sold something within the first day on Mercari! Sales are still not as fast as I'd like them to be, I've only sold about 11 items despite having and constantly using the app for months. However, the sales are still significant and have built my reputation on the app. I can see how many people viewed my item, and promote items to both likers and everyone.
However, my one issue with Mercari is the shipping. The new update requires you to insert the weight of your package, which is challenging to estimate. Poshmark does a better job with a constant shipping rate. Another issue with Mercari is that you are required to purchase or provide all packaging yourself, while Poshmark allows you to pick up free packaging from USPS. I will say that despite my difficulties on Poshmark, I have had friends who have sold many items by networking everyday and resharing their items constantly.
I hope this was helpful if you are considering a side hustle in the world of selling! Please let me know in the comments if you have any questions!! :)
