Welcome back to my favourite music...alphabetically.
Favourite Artist: Iron Maiden
Genre: Heavy Metal, NWOBHM (New Wave Of British Heavy Metal)
The finest of the 80s NWOBHM movement, Iron Maiden's first 7 albums are consistently great to fantastic! There's so much great heavy metal to dig into here, it's crazy. They had a bunch of sequential fantastic metal: The Trooper, Aces High, Powerslave, Stranger in a Strange Land, Seventh Son of a Seventh Son. Unfortunately their 90s output is pretty dire, but they make a great comeback with Brave New World in 2000 and they've stayed consistently good since (not up the level of the 80s but still, not too bad for such an old band! Check out: All of their first 7 albums, but especially Powerslave (1984) and Seventh Son of a Seventh Son (1988).
Favourite Album: In The Court of the Crimson King by King Crimson
Genre: Progressive Rock, Art Rock
Really incredible Prog Rock album with masterpieces like 21st Century Schizoid Man and Epitaph. It's so complex that it's hard to say anything about it. It feels like a journey to listen to it. Very cool instrumentation and singing. Check out: 21st Century Schizoid Man
Favourite Song: I Appear Missing by Queens of the Stone Age
Genre: Art Rock, Alternative Rock
My favourite Queens of the Stone Age song, I Appear Missing is emotional, tender, intense and sombre. Awesome, awesome song with so many great moments. I love the ending where all the instruments trail out and we're left with Josh Homme's tender vocals.
