Testing out the latest Update
The latest update to the Metal Pay app, version 1.8.0, is out on the Apple App Store and aims to bring better UX and UI to an already beautifully designed payment application.
The latest version brings the following:
Easier Payments: Sending payments lets you select your method of payment be that MTL or Cash from a your wallet or a linked bank account. Now, you can link up to 2 bank accounts.
Refreshed UI: The app is beautifully designed as you may have seen by now. The latest update brings clean updates to the interface to pretty much every user interaction.
Requesting for payments is now easier than ever. You also have the ability to send your friends reminders for payment request. 😉
Marketplace updates: The app now clearly states the token price and fee amounts when you’re reviewing your purchase order.
My Wish-List
The Metal Pay application works flawlessly, sending and receiving payments just works. I have yet to experience any glitches or problems.
It’s hard to come up with improvement ideas when the app is nearly perfect but I will give it a shot.
Personal Information
One of the benefits of crypto is the ability to remain anonymous, that is until you link yourself to an account or address. For instance, tweeting your Bitcoin address or having accounts on platforms that require KYC.
Metal Pay isn’t suppose to be an Anonymous method of payment because the main purpose of this application is to be able to send payment between friends and family… and others. But one has to be mindful that by sending a payment or requesting a payment you are sharing both your name and your linked phone number.
Metal Pay has promised the ability to create an Alias under your account that could be used for sharing when sending payments to someone you just met or to conceal your information when sharing on social media.
Hopefully we can see this on the next version.
Easier to Follow MTL crumbs
Right now, it is pretty difficult to figure out how much of your total MTL balance came from Payments, Tips, Rewards, or POPs.
The Payments Tab shows your MTL and Cash received as payment, tips, etc. However, it does not show your MTL earned as POP. For that, you will have to navigate to your Crypto Card, then select Metal. There you will find the MTL you made by POP or the ones you purchased.
To me, it seems like there is a missed connection there. The Payments Tab is what it is, a place to see your sends and receives, and it works fine. But I want to be able to see ALL of my Metal in one place: received, earned, POPed, etc.
Metal Bonus in App
Metal Pay is very passionate about giveaways, bonuses, daily rewards and challenges that lets you earn MTL.
What I would like to see on the following updates is the ability to see these promos in-app.
Think how the Cash App promotes Boosts for specific purchases all in-App. Metal Pay could do the same and offer, for instance, $1 worth of MTL Cash-Back when sending a payment for ☕️ worth more than $5 or so. Metal Pay already promotes similar rewards on Social Media, why not add them to the App?
In Conclusion
The Metal Pay app rivals already stablished payment apps like Venmo and Apple Pay. In many way, Metal Pay is better. The app gives you up to 5% back in MTL for every Send or Receive,a nd you can convert that into USD right away if you wish. Try getting that love from any other payment app, you won’t. Another feature you won’t find is the ability to securely purchase crypto, and not just Bitcoin but Litecoin, Ethereum, Binance Coin, Ripple, Stellar, etc.
Thanks!
Daniel
