Overview
Metamask stirs up mixed feelings. The Ether price remains the primary reason. Even still, I’d expected what amounts to probably the most popular blockchain app to work a bit better. While it has improved over time, inconsistencies remain.
Good enough. Sure, Metamask is good enough, for now. I think it needs to improve for mainstream adoption though.
Personal Experience
TokenPocket is designed for mobile. I've used it in place of Metamask. For someone who’s regulated himself to Ethereum-only-when-needed, TockePocket gets the job done.
MetaMask remained on my radar because of its popularity for accessing Ethereum dapps. I think Battle Racers was my most recent attempt before Piotr’s post inspired me to take a look at the latest environment.
Reaching more People
MetaMask for Project Hope and RobiniaSwap (similar to PancakeSwap) can be effective to reach a larger audience. For example, using MetaMask to log into PancakeSwap should broaden the ecosystem for enew, smaller dapp markets. Thanks to Piotr, Project Hope and RobiniaSwap, I’ve set up MetaMask on both my PC and phone. It’s a task that I was sort of putting off.
Things to Keep in Mind
A word of caution for those experienced with DPoS like Steemit, Hive, EOSIO chains, and Steemit forks. MetaMask takes some liberties. I'm going to talk about just one here.
In an effort to give MetaMask an honest review, I reset my account. I accessed a few dapps and was asked by MetaMask to sign at least twice. While I paid no gas fee, there is no record of my signature on the account key kept within MetaMask. Thus, no known transaction has taken place.
Ive never encountered a time when using DPoS for Steemit or EOS where I was asked to ‘sign’ and a subsequent entry wasn't made onto the blockchain. Such a practice could be construed as misleading.
Final Thought
MetaMask opens up so much. I believe it’s what Project Hope needs right now- at least in aiding expansion. Seems like a good move when combined with RobiniaSwap.
