Before knowing about the amount of electronics which a person can bring in India let’s talk about what happens if any person want to go to foreign country?
When a person goes abroad, he has to show his VISA to the Authorized Dealer of Reserve Bank of India before going to any Foreign Country. Then on that basis Bank can issue maximum 10000$ from which 5000$ is given in cash and other 5000$ is given in the form of Traveller Cheque. Traveller Cheque is also considered as a Foreign Currency. Then person has to fill a declaration form in which he has to mention about the amount of the things which he has taken with him i.e. Watches, Mobiles phone, Jewellery, Laptops etc. With the amount of US Dollars person is also allowed to take the things which is useful for him like Camera, Mobile which is not much costly, but a person has to mentioned about the costly things like Jewellery, Costly mobiles etc. otherwise at the time of return custom officer can ask about the thing. So it is better to mention itself about the costly items in declaration form. A person can also take 2 litres of Whisky with him which is duty free.
WHAT AMOUNT OF ELECTRONICS ARE PERMITTED TO BRINGS FROM FOREIGN COUNTRIES?
When a person is returned from Foreign Country, his luggage is checked by the custom officer. He can returns the things which are mentioned in the Declaration Form. The additional things he can bring with him having value less than Rs.25,000 (by addition of all the things) from foreign country. If a person is living in the Foreign Country from a couple of weeks and where he purchased the things for his personal use and using these things, he can take such things with him in return with the proof of purchase of those things i.e. Bill. Such things are custom free and not included in the things of amount Rs. 25,000 as mentioned above. But no person can come with the things like Pistol, Drugs from any Foreign Country.
