Duvvada Jagannatham or DJ Movie Review: Chemistry between Alu Arjun and Pooja Hegde in the film has already been hit, thanks to the music by the musician Devi Shri Prasad. All songs in the film are well received. It is special for filmmaker Raj Raju because it is a historical film in his career.
When we buy tickets for an all-Arjun film, we know who we sign up for: popcorn entertainment, nothing or nothing at all. And the DJ team had promised that 'the audience will explode' in the theater, to know if they have fulfilled their promise. The Brahmin community, Duvvada closes a misfit, rebellious teenager, five goons from Jagannath, who tries to kill an honest police in a deserted public place. Without thinking twice, the same child evacuates the remaining bullets from a single gun to a police station rape accused that he used to kill the first five bad people of that day. It was just the beginning of a series of killings that were supposed to follow. The honest police played by Murali Sharma,
About 15 minutes in the film, we are now presenting one of the most beloved youth of our community with adult Duvvada Jagannath (played by Eluru Arjun). A Brahmin youth, who has mastered the Vedas and Mantras, takes care of his family and his business which provides catering services, respects the elderly, abides by the law (in the day) and civil society Keeps on promoting the right message. He is an ideal son and a citizen when he is around his family members. When he goes away, his body and language change completely and he goes among criminals with a kind of legend DJ. Unfortunately, seeing any criminal person in person is meant to be his last day on earth.
In simple words, it is a vigilance. However, director Harish Shankar, who has also written the film, has failed to give the teenagers a solid reason to kill criminals in cold blood and motivate them to do so for years. It seems that while writing this film, he ignored the need for logic, hoping that the fans would accept Arun Arjun anyway and without questioning.
The DJ managed to capture the interest of the audience when filmmakers released teasers showing Au in a non-glamorous avatar as a Brahmin boy. And the director has put that role in milk in the film to tamper with the audience. In one scene, the DJ introduced himself to the group of goons, before killing him as the most interesting and entertaining character in the genre. But, in fact, this is his darling Junkanatham character which keeps the audience busy throughout the film. Their way and dialogue make some real laughs with the audience. When it comes to DJs, suppose we have seen that role play in many films in the past under different names. Role of Duvvada Jagannath is the only surprise in this regular run-of-the-mill commercial entertainment.
In the meantime, Harish has packed some punch in the script of the film keeping Hard-All Arjun fans in mind. Oulu's performance is the main basis. Although we had hoped to give Vanela Kishore some rib-ticking comedy, his character and jokes would fall flat. All excel in the film also in comedy. It seems that the director has put all the interesting ideas into a character and made a DJ aka Duvvada Jagannath.
Pooja Hegde has acted firmly, which is amazing in every frame of the film. In particular, she looks disturbed in all the song sequences. Rao Ramesh's character, which initially comes as a clever rival, has been compromised to take advantage of the DJ character. Apart from Alu Arjun, there is no other performance in the film. This is a commercial entertainment created by the book and it works to some degree. And of course, the musician Devi Shree Prasad's music is a big plus and dance choreography is just icing on the cake. If you can keep your expectations low and see the film, then it can be just a lazy weekend.
