A fresh actress joined the cast of Star Wars: Episode IX, and we’re all questioning: Who is Naomi Ackie playing in the new Star Wars movie?
On Friday, Lucasfilm stated that, it came with a number of surprises, including the return of Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker (who died in The Last Jedi) and the late Carrie Fisher as Leia Organa. But one newcomer for the final episode of this new series is Naomi Ackie, a fairly unknown British actress who once appeared on Doctor Who.
She starred in 2016's Lady Macbeth and was part of the cast for the TV miniseries The Five.
So who might she be playing?
Some theoretical outflows from May 2018 that could offer clues as to the identity of this newcomer, particularly when framed in the larger context of Disney’s grand plan for Star Wars retailing via the new theme park in the coming years.
Naomi Ackie enhances some miscellany to the Star Wars 9 cast as an African American actress. Plenty of fans have pointed out that there has been no shortage of white, brunette, British actresses in these movies during the Disney Era. Remarkably enough, the official casting announcement makes no mention of The Americans and Felicity star Keri Russell, who had apparently joined the cast recently. It's possible that her role is going to be very secretive. Another chance is that she didn't essentially end up scoring the part. Time will tell.
Director will start filming on August 1 at Pinewood Studios in London. There is still a lot of partition within the fan base following The Last Jedi, but there is a lot to possibly be excited about here. We'll be sure to keep you up to date as any new evolutions pop up, and there's sure to be plenty with cameras set to begin rolling in just a handful of days. Star Wars Episode IX is currently set to arrive in theaters on December 20, 2019.
