Heavy rain in Mumbai five people's death

Most parts of Mumbai and other parts of Maharashtra have been affected by torrential rains on road and rail traffic. Five people died in different rain related incidents. Santosh Kadam, head of the Regional Disaster Management Branch said that the wall of nearby wall collapsed at a house in Wasol village of Ambernath taluka of Thane district, which left 10 year old child dead and his parents were injured. He told that two people died after falling trees near metro cinema here last evening.

Local suburban trains which are considered to be lifetimes of Mumbai, Western Railway (WR) and Central Railway (CR) are delaying 15 to 30 minutes due to water logging on the railway track. Due to overnight rains, many of the stations, including Sion, Chinchpokli and Matunga, had to face difficulties.mumbai-rain-759.jpg

Due to the heavy rains in south Gujarat and north-western Maharashtra, the Western Railway Railway services were affected due to which the railway services could be restored by Monday morning at 9.10 a.m. Western Railway General Manager A. K.Gupta sailed to take stock of the affected track sites between Bhilad-Sanjan (South Gujarat), even mails and express trains going to Mumbai and going from Mumbai to Mumbai were delayed at various stages on the way.

Thane, Palghar and Raigad districts also affected traffic due to water logging. Visitors like Lakha Bhatti, Wadala, Dadar, Malad, Kular, Gamdevi, Santa Cruz-Chembur Link Road and other places got flooded like this, due to which the buses going to school for children were delayed. Due to the collapse of a part of the wall of a construction building in Lords Estate of Entop Hill, many residents were trapped and damaged dozens of private cars standing in nearby society campus.

Mumbai Fire Brigade, NDRF and other emergency services have started rescue operations. There is no news of any casualties. According to the India Meteorological Department, in the last 24 hours, 8.30 am till 8.30 am in the suburbs of Mumbai 231.5 millimeters of rain has risen and the city has 100 mm rainfall. The department has stated in its prediction that more heavy rains will occur in the next two days.
