Your Eyes
I am the shapeshifter you see before you.
I am the one you've seen as beast.
Ferocious and unyielding.
Protective and caring.
Scary.
Gentle.
I'll become what is needed to protect or guide.
Including your worst fear.
I am your strength.
I am your weakness.
I am your love.
I am your fear.
If you can see me, I show you you.
Not as a mirror, as a message.
It is eyes you see with.
It is I you are looking for.
I is you, at your center.
I is you, at your core.
Use your eyes,
To see I.
Leave nothing unexplored.
You've nothing to fear.
I am right here.
Protecting.
Caring.
Guiding.
Sharing.
Once you perceive,
I cannot leave,
I was always there.
I was there when you were strong.
I was there when you were weak.
I was there when you loved.
I was there when you feared.
I picked you up.
I let you down.
I am always there.
I am the beast you feel inside you.
I am the gods you see above you.
When your eyes can see me,
It's then you'll know it's true.
Your eyes

I think the most important line in the poem is "I is you, at your center. I is you, at your core." This line reminds us that the shapeshifter is not separate from us, but rather a part of us. It is our own strength, weakness, love, and fear.
I also like the way you end the poem with the line "When your eyes can see me, it's then you'll know it's true." This line suggests that the shapeshifter is only visible to those who are willing to look within themselves and confront their own darkness.
Malos, seriously man, you got it. you captured the full essence of the piece. Thanks for responding :) That is precisely what the piece is about.
