How to Harness the Power of Your Subconscious Mind

Hi Steemians,

One of my goals for this weekend was to educate myself regarding the law of attraction and learn how to train my unconscious mind. I spend my time researching what the unconscious mind is and gathered as much information as possible to come up with an effective plan.

Conscious Mind vs. Unconscious Mind

The conscious mind is in charge of your decision-making, while the subconscious mind controls your reactions to different circumstances in life which determines your happiness and success in the long-term. From my discoveries, it is important for people to tune the frequency of their mind to receive what they are looking for in the universe. If your frequency is set to only receive positive energy and you constantly look for it and believe in it, it will manifest itself to you.

Our subconscious mind can be tuned to receive the things we want from the universe through consistency, practice, and discipline. Our task is to discover the highways of neurons in our mind and correct them to ways we plan to live our life. An easy way to address this is to train it for its ultimate purpose which is our physical survival. Hence, we can literally tell it how certain practices (such as smoking or getting angry) is bad for the physical health and it will become aware of those practices. But this is just the introduction and I will get into the various ways we can leverage our unconscious mind to shape our destiny.

What is Your Goal in Life

Before you begin it's important to identify what makes you happy in life. These may include relationships, material things, or adventures. The important thing is to have a master plan that includes your core values and motivations. According to the book summary I wrote on James Hunter’s book, “The Servant”, the most important things to people over 80 years of age are:

  • The amount of risk they have taken in their life
  • The amount of time they spent reflecting
  • The legacy they will leave behind

I believe once you answer these important questions, you will have your master plan as well as the tools you need to envision the person you want to be.

To Begin

Your subconscious mind must be treated like an 8 year old child. You must give it simple and clear instructions that are in the present moment. Like a child, the unconscious mind will take everything you tell it literally. It also understands visuals better as opposed to words so the more boundless your imagination are, the better the results will be.

Be positive

Avoid negative statements. To tune your mind to the right frequency you must seek positivity and joyfulness. An example would be to avoid statements like “I don't want to fail my exam”. This statement will make your subconscious mind think of the moment you walk into the exam room and do a poor job. Instead it must be along the lines of “Today I will do a great job writing my exam and will receive the top grade in my class”.

Precise Affirmations

It is not enough to just write positive statements and read them. To make your affirmations have lasting effect on your life the statements have to be personal, definitive, and clear. Only then will your subconscious mind start to believe that they are all real. The more personal these statements are the more your mind will establish them as neural pathways that will ultimately act in accordance with these beliefs to implement them in your life.

Remember: when you have a genuine belief in something, your subconscious mind will not be able to tell the difference between reality and imagination.

Visualize Yourself

Keep your imagination as specific as possible. Think about all the details. The more information you throw at your subconscious mind, the better it can tune your frequency the way you want your life to turn out to.

I believe the best way you can achieve this step is to first read your affirmative statements and then do a quick meditation. During this 5-10 minutes, you can start creating the life you always imagined. Every day go through all the details and perfect the person you want to be. This will bring you closer to your subconscious mind and allow you to fully be in control of it.

When Lost, Analyze

It is easy to lose focus and forget about your efforts to be mindful. Mindfulness, like everything in life requires dedication, practice, and discipline. If you find yourself in that situation ask yourself the following questions:

  • Are you submerging yourself in positive, uplifting, joyful thoughts?
  • Do you meditate and envision yourself according to your wants in life?
  • Do you problem-solve through your life challenges or do you frequently complain and blame others for your shortcomings?

The answer to these questions do a good job telling you how well you are doing in your journey towards mindfulness. Feedback from those very close to you can also guide you to see on which side of the equation you are standing.

Believe

Once you have provided the universe the things you want from it, it's time to trust the energy and move on to achieve the tasks you have at hand. Certainty and faith in the power of the universe is essential. An example of this is the simple task of placing an order on Amazon. You login, find your desired product, and you place your order. After this step it is only your certainty that assures you that your package is on its way. The moment you click complete you forget about the order. My findings show that the delivery of your requests from life are also on their way the moment you follow the steps, you just have to be patient and believe in the system.
