People who do not have the light of hope in their hearts are people who have allowed themselves to predict the future.
That's true. Unfortunatelly, some predictions, when based on empirical and in-you-face evidence come true. Of course, some people keep the flame of hope lit, even in the face of disaster or just run away from it to avoid harm.
20 years ago some of my friends and professors left Venezuela because they anticipated that with Chavez getting so powerful and popular Venezuela would go back to the caves era. Most judged that assertion an exageration. Time proved them right. Now millions and desperately trying to leave at a time where simple things like getting a passport has become impossibilities and when border countries have started to restrict entrance of venezuelan migrants.
We may not be able to predict the future but some tragedies can be read in the incipient marks their perpetuators leave at the onset.
Of course, if everybody goes desperate and leave who is going to fight the criminals?
It may be the case that political and humanitarian tragedies are put to an end thanks to the hope some people kept, but if that hope is not accompanied by effective actions no much can happen. Unfortunatelly, those who hope can not always act and those who can act are not always willing to (unless they are offered a good deal, then their humanity gets activated).
@hlezama, Those of us who remain here in Venezuela, we hope that everything will improve ... despite the increasingly difficult scenario ... every day we fight for our families, with dignity and with much effort ... because our faith is that soon Venezuela will be free and we can build a better Venezuela. That has to be our hope, to keep fighting every day and not letting ourselves be overcome by the bad diagnoses that we find every day.
Hi, @blessed-girl. I agree, we have to be hopeful. I think we all have been (even the ones who have left because most of them are just waiting for a change to return). Very few people are happy out of their countries. Many people are having a really tough time. The only thibg that keeps the going is idea of coming back home. So, yes, we all have hope, but it is a hope that fades at the daily confirmation that these evil people seem to have the better allies, the upper hand, the super powers that make them invincible.
They do the most outrageous things and nothing happens to them. In other wountries presidents, ministers, governors, majors have even been killed for nothing. Here they seem to be exonerated of everything.
I really regret what happens in your country, but just like a community you are a nation and you must stay together to change this deplorable situation as soon as possible. Regards
Thanks. People have tried to stay together, fight together. But it has become one of those movies where you don't know who are the good guys or the bad guys. Every day we are betrayed by some politician who was playing double agent. the average citizen can't just bring the government down. Small groups can't either since they have been beaten, arrested and even killed in the streets. So far, getting the majority of people together (which would render the army useless) has been impossible. Every person is thinking of their individual survival.
