Thank you for inspiring me to write more about emotions. I actually feel that emotions are an important part of our human experience , arising from the wisdom of nature, and our much larger subconscious brain. We have unfortunately been taught that emotions are harmful and that we need to control and dominate them in order to evolve. I feel this perspective has arisen out of the disconnect between the logical mind (5% or our brain) and the subconscious (95% of our brain, including the whole rest of the body). This disconnect happens typically as a result of a severe trauma and I feel that humanity as a species experienced such a trauma, an earth wide cataclysm, that caused us to disconnect from the subconscious collectively and develop trauma based coping mechanisms that have resulted in our current state of disharmony with nature and each other.
I feel that transcendence based practices simply encourage this trauma based disassociation with our bodies, emotions, and nature, to the continued detriment of all.
As we are learning what truly helps trauma victims to heal, we are discovering that body centered practices that encourage us to feel our emotions and receive the wisdom contained within them help to free us from repeating the cycle of trauma over and over again.
In my work I help people to understand what their emotions are trying to tell them so they can use that energy as a catalyst for change in their lives and in the world. I teach embodiment focused spiritual practices that bring the beauty of our spiritual purpose and identity into our human physical form, healing the patterns of suffering that have been programmed into our cells for generations, and awakening our capacity to create a spirit filled existence her on Earth.
There are many Earth based spiritual lineages to learn from, however they have unfortunately been persecuted violently for many generations. But they are so powerful, that despite this persecution, they remain strong and full of wisdom to teach us if we want to return to a life in harmony with our bodies and nature.
I look forward to your reflections on this.
Indeed - emotions are the mental content trying to give us a message. But the reactive mind (5%) (or as Buddha calls it Shankhara) is so predominant that it overpowers 95% which tries to understand the msg. As Buddha puts it “Sabe dhammo bedana samo sarana” - everything that arises in the mind flows as sensations in the body - and Vipasanna meditation meditation tries to observe those body sensation without judgement (with equanimity). I like your take on this @samamorningstar and have followed you.🧘🏼♂️🧘🏼♂️🧘🏼♂️

Hey @samamorningstar , emotions are super important. They represent half of our personalities, aside the thinking mind. They are here making our lives exciting! Without them we could not get rewarded by happiness, punished by guilt or kept safe by fear by our bodies for taking actions.
Fear as it is, is an important barrier that ensures that only the bravest souls get to influence the world. If fear would not exist, chaos would rule the world. It gives us meaning and a challenge for us, to develop ourselves and grow stronger than pain caused by fear. Finally when we are ready to stand out and speak for ourselves, facing fear directly into eyes, is when we feel fulfilled.
The collective trauma is a result of many years of torture, to which many defensive mechanisms were constructed by our genes. It is something we all have to embrace as it is and carry on forward, with our power focused.
For a collective healing I find learning on how to preserve our power, as well as ways how we dissipate it on a daily basis essential regain our strength focus. Much energy is needed for many generations for a healing of that scale. But interestingly, every change begins with an individual. I will be writing about fear and energy focus points soon more in depth.
It is great to hear you are specialized in embodiment. It is a topic I find a great interest in and would like to read some of your future articles about it.
