RE: SAVE YOUR PASSWORD 10 TIMES: A recap of my timeline back to Steemit

in #mindset6 years ago

Thank you so much for the kind words and guidance! Your advice is definitely something I will take to heart to improve my blog and get more involved in the community. I really appreciate you taking the time to reach out and let me know how to move forward on Steemit... Are there any communities that you would reccommend for someone getting started?

Also if you ever wanted to collaborate with someone with no Steem power at all -- I'm always here trying to think of new articles! Anywhoo, thank you again for your very helpful comment!

No worries! :) I also gave you a small delegation of 50SP - it's not much, but will enable you to comment and post a bit more and upvote, generally interact, just a little bit more.

At the moment you can do:

As for communities, it really depends on what you're interested in! :)

You're from Canada... I'm not sure if there is a Canadian community or if it's all integrated with @steemusa, but a lot of countries have their own little community groups.

@freewritehouse has a vibrant community of writers, both fiction and non-fiction, and general writing. Also, @mariannewest has a daily writing exercise where she'll announce a prompt and you'll write whatever comes to mind in 5 minutes. Doesn't have to be fiction, real, a dream you might have had, or even make sense!

There are a few photography communities and challenges, contests, professional, beginner, amateur - @photocircle is one of them - @steemit-mac is a photo-a-day monthly author challenge. #informationwars if you're conspiracy minded. @steemsilvergold if you enjoy collecting precious metals.

@steemitbloggers is a good community account to follow! They resteem a lot of interesting posts from their community members each day and could be a good way to find people. Maybe try to join them as well once you're a bit more re-established, but they do have high quality and communicative standards. :)

@minnowsupport is another good one. They also have one of the most populated Discord groups... actually, just looked in and they do have a team-canada chatroom, but I have no idea what the account name is for Steemit. But @minnowsupport run the PAL Discord and you'll find a lot of active steemit peoples there. They also have an upvote bot that you can use once every 30 hours. It's not a giant upvote, but helpful for when you're starting out. :)

That's all I can think of at the top of my head... 7am at the moment and my brain just flat-lined, haha. But hope the information helps a little bit!! :) And that you find something.

Oh and I should add!!!!

If you have a wordpress blog you can link it to steem with the @steempress plugin - that's what I use for most of my posts and it's been instrumental :)

Also, there are a couple of games - steemmonsters.com (@steemmonsters) and drugwars.io (@drugwars)

@Partiko is a great Steem app to use on your phone

If you post on twitter, instagram, etc you can #share2steem - @share2steem - I'm not too sure how to use it, personally, but it's helpful.

@actifit has an app which is an exercise/activity tracker on your phone and you can post to steem each day and get rewarded for your activity (if you get over 5000 steps walked). :)

@steembasicincome is very helpful! A lot of people hold challenges and contests and things and reward people with steem basic income shares (SBI) - the more you have, the more of an upvote you'll get automatically on each of your posts!

:D

I honestly can't thank you enough for all of this! I really can't believe you would take time out of your day to help a stranger start their blog... I'm actually shocked with how much info you gave me and I'm quite happy I asked you. I actually feel like I finally have a direction I can go to get more involved in Steemit. I am pretty excited to start a few contests -- especially the daily writing promt. Thank you again, it really is amazing to be given help like this! I started following you as well and I look forward to reading and upvoting your material!

No worries 😊 I'm happy to help and if you have any other questions, I'll try to answer!

The main reason I checked out your post was because of the "Save your password!!!!!!" thing. 😂

I had a recent heart attack with my own password when my old laptop exploded and I hadn't backed my password up yet. I was very freaked out! Also learnt that if you need to recover your password, there's only a 30 day window from your last password change.

Luckily I was able to grab the hdd out and rescue everything.

But yeah, happy to offer some help! I've followed you too and am looking forward to seeing you around the blockchain as you get reacquainted 😃

You honestly will probably be the first person I come to if I have a question that I can't figure out!

The other reason I wrote the article was in the hopes someone would write their password down if they haven't after reading about how much it sucks to actually lose it.

I'm really glad you didn't have to go through what I did, Steemit would miss you!

Thanks again and feel free to get in touch if you ever need the favour returned!
