Everywhere you look, people are concentrated on minerals like calcium, magnesium, potassium, etc. because these are required in quantities that are larger than 100 milligrams. Now on the other hand, minerals that are required in quantities smaller than 100 milligrams are known as trace minerals or trace elements. Some common examples of these are zinc, selenium, fluoride, chromium, copper, iodine, magnesium and molybdenum. Each of these elements has numerous benefits and is a must, even though in small quantities. In fact, to better understand the importance of the trace elements, know that life cannot exist without these trace elements!
To begin with, our bodies use these trace minerals daily thus it is necessary to replenish them on daily basis in order for our complete body systems and responses to function properly. Amongst the numerous body functions and processes that require trace minerals, some of them are enzyme function, thyroid regulation, glucose absorption, blood clotting, tissue formation, transportation of oxygen via red blood cells, detoxification and much more.
Some of the important trace minerals and their benefits are as follows.
Zinc. Required for DNA and RNA synthesis. It helps in white blood cells production, strengthening the immune system and also plays a role in wound healing.
Iron. It helps in transferring oxygen to your muscles and aids in the synthesis of neurotransmitters.
Fluoride. This is best known for its teeth and bone strengthening role. Fluoride aids in enamel repair due to erosion and adds a protective layer between your teeth and acidic substances.
Iodine. Iodine aids your thyroid in producing hormones that help regulate metabolic rate and keep your lungs, intestine and heart healthy.
Manganese. Manganese helps your body metabolize carbs, protein and fats. This trace mineral also helps in bone formation.
Copper. Copper is essential because it helps in the absorption of iron and aids in the making of hemoglobin in your red blood
cells. It also straightens your immune systems, protects body from free radicals and allow proper blood clotting. A lot of the enzymes in your body, depend on the presence of copper as well.
Furthermore, there are a plethora of supplements out there that help in providing these trace supplements but the best one so far in my opinion in Restore 100. This has all the necessary trace minerals present and is a great way to replenish your trace mineral supply!
