Mining queue - The war is over

The war to dominate the mining queue is over

The last days, the mining queue has definitely been monopolized by two miners: supercomputing and rabbit
On the first day of october, Nobody stopped mining using gxt-1080 accounts and switched to supercomputing

That was the only lucky day for other miners who were able to steal an amazing amount of 23 pows (from the 1400 produced daily) while the switch was going on.

supercomputing is now the king of the queue as he daily mine nearly 75% of all pows.
It even looks like he is slowly raising his power.

One might wonder why the name change. Here some (good) explanation:

No challenger anymore

What about djm34? And what about the bounty ?
@djm34 shared is thought with us on steemit.chat

and a last word ...

Any comment welcome and thanks for reading!

Thanks for the update, appreciate your reporting of the latest going-ons. :)

Thanks! I appreciate your feedback.

Very interesting insight!

Glad you find it useful. Thanks

If I understand correctly, miners don't control policy like they do in the bitcoin blockchain (we leave that to the witnesses). Does that mean there's less risk to the network by having mining dominated in this way? Could it mean fewer and fewer people get involved in mining to the point where the security of the network could be threatened? I've read the white paper a couple times, but I still get confused on some details.

You're correct. Miners don't control security of the blockchain. That's the purpose of witnesses.
About the potential risk, have a look at @dan's response in my previous post
Having Steem mining queue controlled by one miner is not really a risk like in other crypto-currencies.

Excellent reply! Thanks for pointing it out to me. That confirms what I was thinking. The additional witnesses and backup witnesses keeps things nicely distributed.

dominating the mining queue is like being a top19 witness in terms of money.

Member when hamsterXXX was around?
Such a friendly miner.

How much is the bounty for the zcash GPU miner?
Maybe we could raise the bounty to make it more appealing?

I remember it was 30K$. Not sure whether it changed later.

30k, 3 devs are working on their own gpu miners... who wins we will see.. one of them is willing to make open source, the others think that 30k is not enough.

So, if two kings decide don't waste a power any more - will be an outage in pow mining or other miners occupy queue immediately? Thanks.

i dont think they will ever stop, and i dont think there is a server running to find blocks.. its impossible and total waste... the only sad thing, is that miners were actually seednodes too... but now not.

If the two kings stop, other miners will grab the free spots.
Look what happened when nobody was switching accounts (a very short time).
Several miners suddenly got some pows.

Which means they are people that let their mining node running, despite the fact it's kind of worthless.

The race will start all over again if the price of Steem starts going up. These are early days.

@djm34 is right, mining zcash is where it's at, or will be come October 28th. I'm reworking my steem miners to mine zcash.
