Ten good coins to mine in 2018
Bitcoin was the first decentralized money. There is no government or authority to support it. This money entered the digital markets in 2009. When we look at fiat money, it is issued by governments but how about bitcoin? There is no government to issue that? The creator of bitcoin suggested a solution for this and the solution was mining. Miners are the issuers of bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. Mining is a process which incentivize people to participate at cryptocurrency market.
How does mining work?
Mining is a smart solution. A miner is like an accountant who confirms transactions in blockchain all the time. The topic of difficulty causes the fairness and security of the network. Nowadays, there are mining pools with advanced facilities and it has caused the difficulty to increase. In these days, some cryptos like bitcoin and litecoin are not profitable to be mined by CPU and GPU. There are ASICs to be used for the mentioned coins. There are some altcoins that are not mature yet and then regular miners can go to them and start mining them but these altcoins have more fluctuations than bitcoin and maybe their mining rewards are not as good as bitcoin. A smart miner selects good coins to mine because mining some coins is wasting time and maybe you cant get profit. In this article, ten good coins have been introduced to be mined in 2018. This list is just a suggestion by the writer and writer has chosen them according to his knowledge and his researches. I dont claim that the mentioned coins in this article are the best but I think they are good coins of 2018 to be mined.
1- Ethereum
Ethereum is still can be profitable. It uses proof of work and the transactions are confirmed by miners. For profitability, you should pay attention to three factors, first the difficulty of mining, second is the hashrate and third one is the electricity cost. Whatever difficulty is higher, you should consume more energy by your rig and in return you get less ETH. From December, the difficulty of ethereum increased and now it is highest in comparison to past. Hashrate is the speed that your rig has in solving mathematical algorithm. Hashrate has been increased from December, too and now it is around 203394GH/s. There are many services to calculate your electricity cost, for example you can go to Crypto Compare or My Crypto Buddy to estimate your electricity cost.
Last year,Vitalik Buterine, the creator of ethereum, announced the change from proof of work to proof of stake which is better for environment and it consumes less energy. There are two kinds of GPUs for mining ethereum. They are AMD and Nvidia. AMDs are cheaper and they are good to start with but Nvidia is more powerful and its configuration is easy and it can be used for other algorithms, too.
When you prepared the GPUs, now you should join a pool. If you mine by yourself, you only get paid when an ether block is solved but when you join a pool, you get paid constantly and it is better and more profitable for you. Below, you can see some good pools to join:

2- Monero
It is an open source cryptocurrency and it introduced on April, 2014. This cryptocurrency creates more security in cryptosphere and it hides sender, receiver and the amounts of transactions. It can be run on windows, macOS, Linux, Android, ios and FreeBSD. Monero uses proof of work and it creates an egalitarian approach to mining. It is ASIC proof and it can be mined only by CPU and GPU. Then monero can be mined by regular people and it establishes a decentralized mining. There are some good pools for mining monero but don`t forget to do research all the time about these pools because they change their terms a lot and a smart miner always chooses the best ones with less fee. 3- Litecoin
It is introduced on October 7th in 2011 via an open source client in GitHub and the creator was Charlee Lee the former google employee. Litecoin has Scrypt algorithm and as a result there are many expensive hardware and tools for its mining. It created faster transactions than bitcoin and it decreased the block time.

4- Steem
It is the token of Steemit platform which is a social media platform. Users can create and curate content in this platform. When you mine Steem, you don`t get Steem token but you get Steem Power and it increases your impression and your power in the platform. Steem mining depends on many different factors like hashrate, luck and population of miners. With a modern CPU like Intelcore i7 which is four cores, you can expect around 30000 to 40000 H/s. Steem uses a sort of proof of work that called Witness. In Steem mining, difficulty means getting votes from Steem Community.
5- Zcash
It is a fork of bitcoin with added features like anonymity and privacy. Zcash entered the digital market in 2016 and at that time its mining was really profitable and now it is more profitable than many other coins. This coin created in 2014 and its goal is establishing a decentralized environment. Cryptocurrencies are useless unless they provide decentralization. It is a fork of Zclassic and it launced in May 23th in 2017. This cryptocurrency creates an anonymous money network, a messaging service, a content platform and a DAO. It uses the algorithm of Equihash. The last supply of this coin is 21 miliion coins and it is the same as bitcoin. It uses proof of work mechanism and it can be mined by CPU and GPU. It is a decentralized platform and it allows the creation and implementation of smart contracts and decentralized applications. It is on improved ethereum codebase and it is a global supercomputer that causes things done in a decentralized way and not by third parties. At the end, I remind that there are other profitable coins to mine in 2018. Coins like Ethereum Classic and Dash are great and you need do your own research before mining.
