Start off by clicking the BUY STEEM OR STEEM POWER button underneath the wallet tab.
You will be taken to a page that allows you to choose if you want steem or steem power in this case choose steem power. Make sure you choose deposite using Ether. Copy the Ethereum address in the box and head over to https://ethermine.org/
If you are using windows you can configure Claymores miner like this( EthDcrMiner64.exe -epool eu1.ethermine.org:4444 -ewal Steemit_Ethereum_Address.RigName -epsw x ) you can find more detailed configurations and miner links here https://ethermine.org/
This will allow you to power up through @blocktrades without having to worry about sending Ethereum to an exchange and converting to steem and then steem power saving time. Set your rig and forget it and enjoy watching your Steem power grow eventually allowing you to take over the world! If enough miners converted to Steem power this way the price would continue to climb even more dramatically.

Hey @azfix that is a great post. Thank you for making it. I will give it a go and let you know how I am doing with it.
Awesome, I never had an issue with it
So it’s still mining Ethereum though?
Exactly and just using blocktrades to convert to steem or steem power automatically
Seems simple enough! Now I just need to calculate electrical costs and balance that with my overall optimism for Steem.
Thanks for the guide!
Always smart to calculate your electricity cost and cooling associated with such an endeavor and throw in a good dose of optimism.
Not what I was expecting but good none the less, thanks!
Do you know if a 290x is good for mining steem?
it is really ok, but the newer cards are better
I think they have 4gb of memory, so if that is the case they should work easily. Power consumption and heat will be more than newer cards though.
Steem Mining - Windows Setup
That wont work now
hello @azfix that is awesome post.
i'm asking somthing
how to mine steemcoin on gpu please tell me???
good job
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it
Great post!
Thank you!
Nice man thank you! I'm just getting into mining. How many graphics cards are you using to mine?
Usually around 6 and sometimes 12 if I point two rigs at it
That is really cool, hadn't even considered it! Have you had any issues with it? Any lost ether?
I have not had any issues, but I tend to send small amounts at a time say .05 or .10 eth and monitor it once a day. The only problem I could see is if you accidentally hit the change your deposit address or if @blocktrades had to change the eth deposit address for some reason. It is important to look at it now and then just to make sure all is running smoothly.
Yeah it's definitely cool as a 'for science' project but it's probably safer to just upgrade from an eth wallet. :)
I agree with you in that regard, its always safer to keep it on a system you own and backup. I have been doing it for months on and off with no issues to date.
Well I hope it keeps going well for you!
Awesome! Do you know how to calculate how much you would earn with a set amount of Mh/s? Also you're not really mining Steem but ether converted into Steem right?
You are correct, you are mining Ethereum and you send it to your blocktrades address to automatically convert it to steem or steem power seamlessly. I usually use whattomine.com as a ballpark idea calculator
Thanks man nice, idk if my two RX 580s would be worth the electric cost but we will see what's up.
It might be a fun experiment and you could always just run them during off peak times if you have that option.
Does anyone do this with mac osx? I had a look, but seems to be for linux & windows only.
I am unaware of any current miners for mac, I think they had an early cpu miner in the early days of ETH using homebrew, but it looked like a real pain in the arse. One option might be to find a coin you can mine at https://miningpoolhub.com/ on a mac and have it auto convert to Bitcoin or Ethereum and get steem power that way. It automates the whole process saving time.
Thanks, that's a good idea. I'll have to look into to properly myself! Cheers
Let us know if you figure something out, might be helpful for other Mac users as well. I think it is something worthy of you doing a post about when you get it working.
Yeah, will do. If I can work it out I'll definitely make a post about it!
Thanks for sharing buddy. I will try.
No problem, let us know how it goes.
This is a great idea I plan to have a 200mh/s eth miner rig built in the next few weeks that I will also blog about. Thanks for the share.
Very nice, I will keep an eye out for your post and enjoy your new rig!

great post thanks
does it work on a nvidia card?
Does this still work?
Yep, Blocktrades is still around to convert and you can even mine delegated power that way.
Sweet man, I think I have it setup correctly. :)
Awesome, let me know how it works out for you
Do you know of any exchanges similar to blocktrade, by chance?
I think your method could be used for other coins too and want to try it out. Changelly never loads so I cannot get to it to see if they have a deposit address I can just send it to like blocktrade does.
for steem mining you can invest in this site is tested they pay

Hi,
Thanks for sharing a great post.
Have there been any updates on setup for this?
Also, what happens when Etherium moves to POS (proof of stake)? Would you simply set up a new currency pair that works with Steem Power?
Yep I would just use Litecoin or something else
