Hello Steemians!
Figured I'd share with y'all a little something I'm working on. I'm building my first mining rig. Being extremely budget friendly on this build, I pulled out about 40 LTC (~$2,000) and said I wouldn't spend a penny more.
Everything is ordered and should be here by tomorrow (Thursday) afternoon. However, I have completed the motherboard setup and the rack I'm going to be using to slap everything together. I say "slap", but I'm a perfectionist by nature, so I plan on making this thing look REALLY good.
Build List & Prices:
ASUS Prime Z270-A Motherboard - $149.99
i3-6100 3.7Ghz Processor - FREE (from old computer)
Intel Core Heatsink - $8.92
Ballistix Sport 8GB DDR4 RAM - FREE (from old computer)
240GB M.2 SSD - FREE (buddy in IT had an extra)
PC Power Cable Push Button ATX - $5.29
2x EVGA 750 GQ, 80+ GOLD 750W PSU - $175.94
Dual PSU Power Supply Adapter - $9.85
5x EVGA GeForce GTX 1060 SC Gaming (Single Fan) - $1458.33
MintCell 6-Pack PCIe Powered Risers - $48.95
Adjustable Rack - $20 (OfferUp)
Total: $1877.27
I was actually planning on going overbudget to get the final 1060 GTX Graphic Card to make this a 6 GPU rig, but I had made a different purchase with some extra cash. My goal is to make enough in mining profits to buy another GPU within a few weeks
I wont just be GPU mining on this rig. I currently have a ~20 TB BURSTcoin HDD mining setup on my personal desktop that I will be implementing. I'll be adding this to the rig and mining BURST for a while. The difficulty of BURST have risen substantially however in the past couple of months while the price has dropped substantially. My thought process is to slowly fill a few TBs with StorjCoinX HDD sharing and MAYBE do some Siacoin HDD sharing once Sia gets up and running a little stronger.
Here's a couple of pics of the Motherboard setup and rack. I'll be hanging the GPUs from the top rack, setup HDDs on the bottom and if room allows it, I might setup the PSUs on the bottom rack also. If not, they will go in the middle. I plan on leaving the very top open so I can put something up there. Maybe a TV lol

Steem ON!
Nice work! What are you using for an OS? What will you be mining?
Windows 10 and I'll be mining new fair launch coins and when those are unprofitable probably Ethereum or ZEC
great m8
Thanks!
Do you think it will take only few weeks to enough to purchase a new card?
I'm planning a rig as well, and still deciding if I should go for a 5 or 6 solution to start with...
Well, I've been mining already at home with a couple of low-end GPUs. I have pretty much figured out my method on how I want to mine. Going for new releases and probably ZEC for the most part. I'm think I'll make enough to purchase the 6th GPU in 3 weeks. I'm hoping a full ROI in 3-4 months. I will post blog updates with gains :)
Awesome! So basically your suggestion is to check out every new coin, mine them till you can make some money and meanwhile accumulate some of them, when there are no new coins or the return is not so great go with ZEC... I think I will follow the advice in this case
Yep! Turns out ZEC isn't the most profitable for me right now so I'm dual mining ETC/LBC
