Plywood Mining

in #mining7 years ago

No it's not an ICO it's what a poor guy does instead of buying a rack or a case to put all the components in/on. Have a look.

It comes complete now with a lower deck for the monitor arriving tomorrow and the keyboard and mouse pictured here.

Believe it or not it is currently running mining Monero as I unplugged my monitor from rig number oneIMG_20180401_170402.jpg
and installed the OS (Xubuntu) and the mining software on rig two, then unplugged and replugged. No sense in it sitting there doing nothing when it could be hashing away on it's own at 125h/s on cryptonote algorithm.
Was as easy as cutting some 1/2 in pieces of impolene tubing and some 3/4 wood screws and viola it works, you might even notice cut up strips of a beer can to hold the HD down.
See a common theme yet? Plywood the multipurpose mining necessity.

It's coming along Soo nicely! I'm inspired. Sadly I'm not handy with tools at all ^~^ gosh I wish I could spread out and not bake next to my miner.

At least gpus keep the coffee warm XD

I never tried it before but it worked out OK the little 1/2in pieces of plastic tubing keeps the motherboard up off the wood allowing some airflow and keeping it level. I like bush-built anything. The plywood was free, the screws, free, the plastic tubing, free, I paid $6 for the switching and LED wires. It was that or buy a cheap case and modify it to fit or rip the wire harness out and throw the case away. I could see paying $45-65 on an open rig frame either. Also I've decided to give the Rx 580 a go. I can't find a good reason to justify a GTX anything. They are just too pricey. Newegg.com has an 8gb Rx580 for $359. If work keeps flowing I'm gonna try and buy 1 every other week or so until I've got 12 of em. Maybe then I'll be able to make a profit.
If it works out I'll have 2 GTX 750's and 3 650's to sell or I might just buy cases motherboards HD's and such to build 5 addition PC's to sell to recuperate some funds or donate to church or something. I don't have much space in my apartment

I just checked the msrp on RX 580. I'm shocked that they were at 230$ once upon a time. Crazy times. I wonder what I can craft together with scraps from a local homeDepot or Lowe's. You had some awesome savings! Really motivating!

~ $300.00 for a Intel quad core with 4gb ram a 500gb HD and 6 PCIE slots. Not bad. Maybe this weekend I'll get a Rx 580 but I don't think my check will be enough. I hope

Oh yeah $6 for the switches and $34 for a refurbished monitor which came today. 1523483095204.jpg
Now more waiting for money. Thank God I'm able to work and have a job.

You had my vote even before the mention of “recycling” beer cans but that solidified it! I am amazed at the progress you are making. Here’s hoping for a Crypto climb in the near future!

Thank you. I'm hoping after tax day the market takes off to the moon. I'm heavily invested in XRP for a poor man, hoping to get to 1000 tokens this weekend. In the end it's all a win for me as I've only been spending money I used to buy pot with, admitted I'm rethinking that position as my old bones are starting to hurt

Ripple or ripped, Bitcoin or bong rips, Turtle coin or toked up! A real Sophie’s choice you’ve got brewing there.... But in all seriousness, something’s gotta get this market ripping and save me from being the last guy on the sinking ship! I’ve been dollar cost averaging into mostly ETH and BTC but it’s been more like catching a falling knife.

Ask and ye shall receive is what I'm thinking after seeing a nice spike of an increase in my small portfolio. Now if this turns out to be a nice long trend, that's be something. Have a great day

I am long term bullish but it’s been really painful recently! HODL is the name of the game.
