Most in the US acknowledge racism is a persistent problem. It's not as overt as it used to be. But incidents where the police treat black people like lesser citizens, much like the incident which sparked this, remind us it's there.

Since it was a cop and not some random idiot like that lady in central park, I feel it is much worse, never mind the specific severity.

A lot of my friends are upset about it.

I've lived in a country where I'm a foreigner and a definite minority and it sucks when I face xenophobia (mostly small slights or textbook ignorance).

I can't imagine how people who cannot trust police (or worse fear them) in their home country feel.
