This one came as a bit of a surprise--yet it was also was very fitting given the setting for the inspiration. A dear friend's family offered me their cabin in northern Minnesota last weekend to work on my latest written story.
The setting was also fitting for inspiring this off-the-cuff, selfie-style video that previews this long form piece looking at how Minnesota will fare in this new era of humanity.

No better place to ponder the source of Minnesota's challenges in today's world than at the source of our great Mississippi River, which is right over my shoulder in this video.
With Governor Walz apparently in the running for the Democratic VP slot, Minnesota continues to be in the national spotlight. So these state-focused stories take on a broader appeal--especially with Walz necessarily mentioned in them.
But more than trending topics, I like these stories as representative of issues across the country--even world--as our societies work to find new footing and unity in these disrupted times. And when they hit close to home, they get my attention.
