Minnowbooster doesn't pay off and you will throw away your money

You learn from your own mistakes.

You put your time and energy in creating that perfect post and you decide you want some boost.
And there are number of bots that do just that. But does it really pay of?

Recently MinnowBoster has decided to raise the limits of minimum payment to 5 SBD on weekly limits of 35 SBD.
They have a lot of income because people where thinking this will payoff and very soon the MinnowBooster voting power diminished because of number of votes.

So they return to minimum payment of 1SBD but voting power was below 50% and that surely doesn't pay of.
So recently when their voting power goes up they rise again for minimum payment for 5 SBD and weekly limit is only 15 SBD.
And they didn't even put the notice about the changes.

So let's do a little math.

If you pay booster 5 SBD for a post and their voting power is around 60% wich is good, you will get in return about 8, 9 - 9 SBD.
And on the post it says you have around 9SBD. And you think that's great I'm good for 4SBD.

But in reality it is different. You will actually lose money. Because you don't count their curation rewards when they give you an upvote. So the Author's reward is about 75%. And what's left from that the half of that which is 50% goes to your Steem Power or SP.

So you pay 5SBD, get around 9SBD, 25% goes to them and you left with 6,75SBD, and 50% from that is 3,375SBD.
So you basicaly lose around 2SBD.

And their excuse for that is well, you will get on the hot page and people will upvote you and you will gain followers etc.
That maybe true, that way if someone upvotes you, you will gain profit.
But now today, there is so much people on the platform, your post won't be seen in the categories where whales rule.
So if you are a whale, 5SBD won't matter so much, already have a bunch of followers, it will boost you even more and you are good.
But often times I see whales shitposts that are so lame they have hundreds of dollars from that.
Jerry Banfield who is well known here, took a picture in his underwear and get 500 dollars from that.

So the MinnowBooster really isn't for minnows anymore and at least they need to change their name for that.

You will gain more profit if you have good strategy of writing good articles, posted in the categories where they are not overwhelmed with people, and certainly you will get recognized over time.

good luck :)

Sort:

6.76 is more than 5 no? Even if 50% is steem power and 50% cash its really good.

how come if you lose money?

and you upvote your own post :D

lot of people tend to ignore the sp fact, you are right sir :D

Good post. Luckily I avoided Minnowbooster. I think I will just learn to be a better Curator and blogger and forget about these paid voting schemes.

I am doing a Curation Test right now : If I upvote a Whale (like Jerry Banfield) 15-30 minutes after he posts - what kind of Curation Reward do I get if the post goes on to make $500 ???

I find that many of my Curation rewards are like .001 SP (Steem Power) - so my Timing must be off or I let my own Steemp Power drop to low ... 80 % etc .

yes but the timing must be just right! I thought so to, but I think that my vote won't be counting as much because of my voting power, for what I heard is that you can do that but certain conditions must be fulfilled: You must be certain that, that post is gonna get a lot of money. Second you must be first to upvote to get the most benefit from around 15-30 minutes. Second and third place would give you also reward but not as much.
And the third, often those whales upvote their own post so that biggest peace of slice goes to them.
And I'm not certain for the timming, but in a couple of minutes for that kind of post there must be 10 upvotes. And about the time frame don't hold my word for it but I think it must be at least 15 minutes :)

Also I discovered I can get a decent profit from the exchange market.
But unfortunately, MinnowBooster eat all my money for now :D

Bad math, You don't lose the money that goes into Steem Power. You can begin a power down to get that turned into steem and then use it to buy SBD.

That is understandable but it's not liquid

Liquid is much diferent that profitable
