We're introducing moderators. There are 1500 unique people in the Discord channel. We've created many channels to allow for micro communities to thrive in there. We've seen successful contests getting put out as well as some wonderful services. It's working, but it feels congested at times.
Also, there aren't a lot of rules, but don't post or register in General is a big one. It would be nice to have more help enforcing that.
Promoting people takes time. There are 1500 people that need help registering with the tools we use for members. It takes more help.
It's also a status thing. People that contribute to helping the social interaction need to be rewarded for that too.
Mods
So, here's the plan. We're basing this on the amount of social interaction on General. This is actually easily measured by using t!rank in the playingwithbots channel. For right now as this is still a trail it's only open to people that have a higher t!rank than @aggroed. If it goes well we will likely open it up further to the top 5 or top 10. It will become available to more people as the group grows larger
Mimimum Requirements
- Have to have a higher t!rank than @aggroed
- Have to be a delegator to the Minnow Support Project.
- Must acknowledge that PALnet is a totally free and public service adn will stay that way.
- Must announce a unique public service project to either promote, benefit, and/or interact with the Minnow Support Project, PALnet, or Steemit. This should take a series of posts and require many weeks of effort.
- Must be supported by at least 3 witnesses, jr witnesses, or honorary witnesses in PALnet.

Will eventually be able to curate with higher percentage bots from the mothership.@aggroed will put them on Steemvoter with a heavy percentage.

@benjojo has donated 90k SP, but @aggroed has to rent 20k SP from @neoxian. @aggroed has been paying this for some time, but after HF19 the price has gone up and it's time for the Minnow Support Project to show some financial independence. The price is 200 SBD/week. We have to raise this through posts and donations. @aggroed has paid this week already, and is committed to 100 SBD for next week. We're also looking for more delegated SP or large donations to the community account. Tomorrow is donation day. Please support the project. If you're a whale with unused voting power sitting on a large amount of SP we'd love to use them for the benefit of all the whales. Please consider working with the 1500 minnows that are part of PAL.

Would these moderators keep the dirty and irrelevant conversations that have nothing to do with Steemit or PAL out of general? I know it's 'general' but it's the first impression people get when they check out PAL.
Maybe there should be a new welcome channel that defaults to first and this one can be kept clean. Maybe it will have a better pace for asking questions too. I would be happy to spend as much time as I can in such a channel just saying hello and pointing the way to articles that answer questions.
Lately I have been noticing new or confused people asking important questions and within seconds they are buried when a group of friends seem to be having an exclusive conversation on the main channel that should be made private.
I want to help anyone that I see trying to break into the chat but I can't keep up and I don't often have the right answer. There are of course super helpful people in general - just don't want to see anyone fall through the cracks in between these people and also the greeters.
Tough balancing act of freedom and unpleasant. If you want to orchestrate a clean channel I'm in support. Just snag some other people that want a slower/cleaner experience.
I suppose the balance is simply having a choice between the two. I find myself wanting to chat and connect with other quiet minnows but they can't be found in the rush. I know four people on the top of my mind that will probably be interested slower/cleaner channel. I will talk to some more though and ask.
Many of the people that might find a clean channel nice may not belong to the group yet. I am thinking a landing place that does not overwhelm right away - especially being new to discord itself too. They can explore the other channels when they know where they are.
The new women's channel is great - but not very active so far. Maybe because people don't know it's down a little ways on the channel listing. If you want a true alternative to general chat people need to know it's there - ideally right next to general. Not sure you are willing to do that and so a slow lane would also be appreciated.
I'm in full support of this. In my mind freedom means being able to choose what is right for you. In the grand scheme of things, a new channel is not a burden nor is it difficult.
And you are correct, I see plenty of questions get buried almost instantly. I try to catch them, but it's not possible to get them all.

Despite being guilty as charged, I would love to see this too. I want both a casual hang out zone for the off topic fun AND a channel for slower, more Palnet/steemit centric stuff. Right now I'm meeting awesome people and talking to them in PM.
Good! I think both casual and clean off topic and slow PAL/Steemit centric zones are a good idea. Quiet minnows like myself have a lot to say and questions and the ones I have talked to can't handle the rush. @minnowsupport do you want me to make a post to outline and gauge the potential interest in a clean and slower channel?

I saw that just now in #General. I can see those as being great moderators. We need more people to have the ability to moderate in Discord at least.

I'm so confused about how this whole project works. I need help and want to grown my network. I have been using a whalepower tag and upvoting their content and resteeming their stuff when I can to try and get group support. However their support doesn't do much for me or I never see it. Would love to be involved in some community projects that help me get my content noticed and gives me some direction on here.

I registred few days ago and I still don't know how it works and how it does support minnows. Looks like just a collecting 1500 heads.... for nothing?
Just start slow. Say hello in chat. People are making a ton more based on relationships. Start by building them. There's also bots. So, you can ask in channel about those.

Especially when I don't know English and don't have a lot of time for hovering there. and I'm not a 20 years old with don't counting a my life time but with husband, kids and 2 jobs.
If I ever would have a time for chat what I suppose do there with the bad English? Tell somebody news and my thoughts on Russian language?
I was on chat. I cannot read messages on its speed, and I cannot write on not-native language with the chat speed because I use Google translator for every second word. it's completely useless for me

For now, honestly speaking, it looks like "pay us for an access to a chat"
There's no cost - all that is required is a 0.001 steem or SBF contribution to to the bot, which exists solely to link user accounts with their Discord server names for bot voting. If users don't have it, our members send them some.
We have a bot upvoting, with a trail of 35-50 voters depending on the topic. Making friends in chat is a great way to get a few extra votes when you share posts or they follow you.
More stuff is in the works (higher power bot votes, etc.), but keep in mind this has only been around for 2 weeks. In addition to all of this we've created multiple channels for topics like poetry, contests, and writing where users can share their content and discuss, and a peer-review channel where members can get detailed feedback on posts or help with spelling and grammar.
And all of it is free. Donations are requested as members become more successful. Requested, not required; same with SP delegation.

Well, looks like I'll have to be on discord and up my t!rank, now. I'm sure my wife will be super happy about that! Hah. Ill just have to tell her @aggroed made me do it! This is a great idea though, the more organized discord is the better it is for everyone. @r0nd0n has done a great job with the peer review channel and I hope we can get to that point with the rest of the channels as well. As has been said by others, the problem with chat is that a legit newbie question can be ignored if immersed in a chat-fest of 4 or 5 people. Picking up those legit questions would be a useful service.
Working on a way for those questions to be answered without requiring interaction from us... it isn't that we don't like questions, but the same questions 300x a week begs a better solution. So we'll deliver.
All good points. The Discord is a great place to be but it does get overwhelming at times :) I will look out for the donations call. I don't understand how the delegation of SP works.. will have to look into it. In my first month Steemit and minnowsupportproject and teamaustralia have been great to me so I want to make sure I can contribute back so everyone can be successful.
I am all for this beautiful project. Has helped me a lot and want to see it grow.

I just read this, and really have no idea what I just read. An introductory paragraph would be good. Apparently you have a Discord group for minnows? If so, what is it, how do we access it? Then you started talking about PAL - what's that?
