Why?, beacuse we don't have a system like jackd for video, like user interfaces. User interfaces for mixed reality really need to be realtime and not being something that can be interrupted. Now we poured so many resources into Wayland and it's not even realtime.
Even the whole operating system should be realtime and the kernel, Linux. Non realtime should happen in the context of realtime scheduling. We must abandon GNU/Linux and search for something else.
User interfaces must be realtime, especially now that user interfaces are something you strap onto your head. Any glitch in the matrix here will kill immerision and it seems really like the interface were made by someone incompetent.
