Hello everyone! I’m kicking off this blog with a ‘What I eat in a Day’ type post, because I know sometimes people are interested in what models eat to stay trim, look healthy and keep toned.
Before I begin, as you probably know; there is no 'right' or 'wrong' way to eat. Everyone has different nutritional needs and I am no person to tell you how or what you should be consuming. Know you and your body well. Here is just a small source of inspiration if you are looking to shake things up.
I am not a perfect eater, but who is! I eat quite a lot of food, however I try to keep it healthy. Over time after eating well, I have pretty much trained my taste buds to crave healthier options, (although now I eat wayy too much hummus...)
I believe in nutritious, filling meals. I don’t starve myself because I don’t need to when eating a balanced diet; my weight stays the same and I feel healthy.
Here’s a typical day’s food diary for me:
Breakfast:
Hot water and lemon (before food)
Porridge made with oat milk, topped with blueberries and a sunflower and linseed crunch.
Coffee with some oat milk.
On this particular day, I was attending a shoot early in the morning. I was a little bloated from dehydration and dinner the night before, so I decided to make myself a cup of tea with hot water and lemon. I absolutely adore porridge in the morning, especially in winter, it's my absolute go-to easy breakfast. Porridge can always be changed and for that reason I never get bored of it. Sometimes I even eat it with half an avacado and egg!
Snack on set:
Banana with teaspoon and a half of almond butter
Mint tea
I was starving on set waiting for lunch, because I had breakfast very early. Banana and almond butter is such a great snack if you are hungry and will be waiting a while for your next meal. So satisfying and nutritious!
Lunch:
Rice nutty bowl with chicken
The photographer bought us lunch that day (lucky us!). This dish was delicious; packed with protein and fibre. I would have preferred if there were a few more veggies in the mix, but all in all I really enjoyed this.
Dinner
Morroccan style soup with cut up red peppers, broccoli, hummus and oat cakes
I kept dinner relatively light that evening as lunch was heavy, and packed it full of veggies. Spicy, delicious lentil based soups are among my favorite, and luckily I had that for my supper! Anyone who knows me knows my almost unhealthy obsession with hummus, and that I need to have my fix of it pretty much daily. But if I could choose a vice, I guess hummus is not the worst in the world.
Snack in the evening:
More hummus, crudités and oatcakes !
My general tips:
Drink lots of water: dehydration can cause bloating and water retention, which is definitely not flattering in photos.
Don't eat sugar everyday: By all means, treat yourself now and then, but don't eat sugar all the time. It's really hard to control cravings, your weight and how much you eat when a lot of sugar is apart of the equation. I treat myself every weekend to a cocktail and/or dessert, because food is to be enjoyed! But all in moderation.
Stay away from really processed food: Try to eat homemade meals as much as possible and keep away from products with lots of different ingredients that you haven’t heard of before. Even protein bars, that are marketed as really good for you, aren’t that great!
I hope this was of some sort of value to you, and looking forward to hearing what you guys have to say.
Thanks so much!
Love,
Kerrie xxx
Interesting post, I'm always looking at new ways to eat healthy, thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much for commenting @paulnulty, me too, you can get stuck in a rut with the same things over and over sometimes; good to shake things up now and then! :)
