In today's world, millions of people use social media platforms on a daily basis. We are intrigued by alerts & are constantly compelled to check our updates.
The observed phenomenon I would like to pay attention to, and inquire about, is persistent scrolling through social media streams. Checking updates on a phone or computer seems like a natural behavior. But, what is it that makes us continue scrolling? The way I observe it is that there is a type of compulsion to continue looking social media feeds; as if we believe we will find some new & interesting piece of information that will lead to a greater revelation or novelty.
Perhaps this is a poor phrasing of this phenomenon. But, I believe that the commonality of our shared experiences reveal my intent to describe this behavior.
And, I am not judging this type of behavior.
What I am interested in is finding a way to harness this type of behavior to improve personal productivity. How can our goals become more compelling in that we will pursue them as if they were as interesting as a social media feed?
