All that we need to modify is the backwardness of our frame of mind for we are always haunted by the thought of being categorized to be reactionary and intransigent. The sociology and the history of evolution of the mind-set of the so-called progressive activists in our country should without much delay be taken into an intensive diagnosis to unveil the camouflage of enlightenment they are wearing on their face. To them the meaning of progression is to oppose and defy the moral principles of the diverse religious group, Islam in particular. We have to determine the role of religions from the historical point of view. Back to the history, we can draw hundreds of references to Islam which immediately after its emergence had kept putting a lot of contribution to resisting the tyrannous and authoritarian rulers from subjugating and oppressing the people of lower social strata.
Hazi Shariatullah and Titumir are the best specimens as regards the discussion here. Both of them fought against the British imperialistic rules with a view to liberating the distressed humanity. The emergence and rise of Christianity in Europe was inevitably the moral, political, and intellectual ascendency of the poor people over the people of higher social ranks, and so was the appearance of Islam in the Middle-East during Iyame Jahelia to wipe out, annihilate, and obliterate the prevailing and all-pervading social superstitions, prejudices, inequity, injustice, and class distinctions as well as the firmly embedded unscrupulousness and moral degradations of all sorts from their mind.
All the religious theories and cults have to give place to the capitalistic system as the capitalistic system approaches to change those religious theories which are not analogous to, and do not comply with this omnivorous economic system. Yes, it changes the religious theories in terms of its requirements, but not the religion, because religion and religious theory are not the identical thing. Religion is intuitive and inherent to a degree. The religion of economic emancipation preached by the communists and the socialists occupies the place of religious theories and cults. The religious theory can be changed, but not the religion itself from human beings. Humans guide all their freedoms persuaded by the religions, the intrinsic moral principles, they hold within themselves, and all the instinctive moral principles lie hidden in their hearts unless those are unfolded, activated, and motivated by a celestial religion conforming to their instinctive moral principles.
The so-called progressive activists in our country say that religions serve both the sides – the rich on the one hand and the poor the other, but their presumption is utterly subjective based on their economic stance. The proletariat get hold of their requisite ethics, morality, and above all the spirit of their revolution to cause the prevailing socio-economic infrastructure to collapse from the religious assurance. They seek solace at the thought that their worldly and secular economic emancipation goes in a common line with the spiritual aspects of religion. The get financially solvent in their life, and simultaneously ensure a spiritual and celestial emancipation in the next life since they derive the base of their revolution from religious background.
Communist movement is supposed to take lessons from every victorious and flourishing movement working in favour of the economic emancipation of the working class. In that sense, the emergence of Christianity in defence of the suppressed and exploited poor people of that time may also be regarded as a form of social movement set against the extreme level of Jews’ economic and aristocratic discrimination pragmatic as to the demand of the time. Islam with regard to this has put over centuries a far greater contribution in comparison to the Christian socialism. Knowing these facts necessitate us passing through the glorious phases of Islamic history.
We know that being socially secured and equivalent ultimately results in being economically solvent and equality; the social security takes its origin in the morality guided by religious morality, for the mere morality denotes to some extent the kind of morality relating to the individual wishes and desires whereas in individual feels impelled to be directed by his religious precepts. Marxism asserts economic emancipation and the abolition of class distinction. Economic opulence at one phase turns a person immoral and dissolute, because he then grows lenient towards his morality and decency little by little, but if his morality is guided by religious principles, he cannot relish a rampant and unbridled freedom of his economic solvency as per his wish; he has got some accountability to his religious morality. In that event, religious morality precedes economic solvency.
