Momo - the magic dish from Nepal
Mo:Mo: is a powerful word in Nepal. Just a simple mention of it is enough to cause someone to salivate and die out of powerful sensation if he does not get to eat these humble dumplings within the next hour. No, I was just joking! But it it true, we Nepalese travel miles to go and have a good plate of Mo:Mos.
What is Mo:Mo:? Well it is basically a dumpling. Mo:Mo: is usually made of meat fillings and dough wrap (in USA is is called potstickers). Chinese call it Seow Loong Pau. Well, whatever they call it else where in the world, we in Nepal would like to believe that we invented it (May not be true but we don't give a damn about it) as we believe that we have the best Mo:Mo: in the whole wide world - Buffalo Mo:Mo:. Yeah, beat that? I mean who else has the juicy Himalayan organic Buffaloes in the world right?
Every street corners of Nepal's towns and villages would have a Mo:Mo: joint. Everyone, almost everyone visits these momo joints daily to have their Mo:Mo: fix. These humble dumplings can be consumed as breakfast, Lunch, dinner or snacks in between meals.
Nepalese household often also organize a Mo:Mo: party to bring family members together once in a while. The Mo:Mo: parties are particularly popular during the winter months between October-April.
If you ask me, the best Mo:Mo: is made of Pork meat, followed by Buffalo, Chicken and vegetables. It is rare to have mutton Mo:Mo: as Nepalese have perfected how to best consume goat meat. Take my advise, stick to Pork or Buff Mo:M0: next time you are visiting Nepal.
