There is nothing special about 29 yrs old Vrushali Bamane as she was just a 12th pass out, working as an assistant accountant in a company and earning Rs 18,000 per month. But what if we tell you that this lady who worked in Mahalaxmi Rope Works in Fort on the post of assistant accountant has never learnt accounting. Yes, you read it right! Shocking but true it is!
Vrushali had Science in her 12th standard and she is so clever that she has committed a fraud of nearly Rs 16 crore. Not only this, she has accumulated wealth and properties in the names of her family members as well as herself.
Vrushali was arrested last month and the police officer who arrested her, has this to say, “We were expecting to find the money stashed in an account or somewhere else, but were shocked by the way she utilized the money to amass all these properties.”
Vrushali, who used to live in Dombivli worked in the company for a time period of seven years and after gaining confidence of her employer and colleagues, she started embezzlement of funds from 2013 and transferred money in the accounts of her husband, parents and other family members.
But the money was not just resting in the accounts; this is what the cops came to know about how she spent the money:
Constructed a bungalow worth 5 crore in Karad, Satara district. The bungalow which has seven big complete furnished rooms and terrace pool has been named as “Goleshwar”.
Purchased three luxurious apartments and two flats in Dombivli worth Rs 50-60 lakhs
A lot was spent on the designing of interiors.
Purchased many cars and bikes and gifted few to family members too. All have 3777 registration number from different RTOs as Vrushali believed that the number was lucky for her.
However, her good time came to an end and she was arrested. One officer told, “After her arrest we made searches at her residence and other properties and seized gold and silver jewellery, expensive watches and cash, totally worth over Rs 18 lakh.”
Vrushali had minimum 8 bank accounts but she never left big amount in the account and withdrew it through ATM.
In the words of Manoj Kumar Sharma, DCP (zone 1), “Our officers managed to obtain information from the arrested accused and subsequently we made a sizable recovery in the case.”
Vrushali has appealed for bail but police has opposed it and booked her under section 408 (criminal breach of trust) of Indian Penal Code.
All the properties of Vrushali have not been seized till now like a prime property in Thane; however, it is learnt that she has paid Rs 1 crore as token amount for that.
Vrushali and her husband Sachin were also fond of travelling as a police official told, “The accused and her family members toured Kerala, Rajasthan and other places and also spent on adventures like helicopter rides, etc.”
Vrushali has also applied for passport as she wanted to go on foreign trips.
Below Is The List Of Her Assets:
A double storey bungalow worth Rs 5 crore in Satara
Five flats in Dombivli worth Rs 2-2.5 crore
Jewellery, cash and branded watches worth Rs 18.23 lakh
Hyundai Elantra worth Rs 22 lakh
