Decred is an ambitious project.
As a community, everyone can add its touch to the project. Similar to Bitcoin, created by developers of Bitcoin, it will become one of the most appreciate digital currency out there!
There is 3,381,146 DCR, and 2,541,146 DCR available as I speak!
The project is doing really well so far, it have not been pumped by whales as many other coins.
Decred has a system of community-based governance integrated into its blockchain.
The proof-of-work mining able to stake holders to vote on consensus change that facilitate the change of consensus rules.

That makes a great entry point. knowing that there will be only 21 millions coins mined, following the same curve than Bitcoin, and having far more underlying power than other coins.
It is, definitely, a coin to invest in!

I have been mildly curious about Decred, but after your post, I know very little more than I did before.
So what projects is it working on? What other platforms are using it?
It's basically a currency with the same potential than Bitcoin, and with instant transaction at the moment. You create your own blockchain while your create the transaction.
It's up to the community to work as well on any project that could be added to this blockchain.
The developers are still working on the core of the blockchain, developing the wallet, and pulling thousands of new line every month!
They offer 40% interest annually, right? How do they control inflation?
21 millions coins
Decred is a solid coin. The price hasn't moved much because they have almost zero focus on marketing. Other coins seem to focus first on marketing which isn't the best way to go. If you check their github and offical forum you'll see they're constantly updating and working on the project under the radar. I have a strong belief that somewhere down the road it will be a sleeper hit.
Interesting post. I was about to post a similair thread. The crypto market: High risk high gains!. That doesn't mean that a gain is guaranteed though.
