The Mexican Peso: A Century of Currency Debasement (Part 1 - Independence)

in #money8 years ago

A history of the Federal Reserve Note’s century long decline in purchasing power is well documented. The debt explosion, currency printing and debasing are frequently discussed in both the mainstream and alternative media. It is hard to find anyone that does not at least feel in their bones the precarious economic position the actions of these central bankers place the world.

But there is nothing unique in the actions of the Federal Reserve. Governments (the political ruling class) and central banks (the financial ruling class) have all debased their currencies over time. It is a low friction way for them to stealthily siphon off real wealth from the people who actually create it.

Systematic currency debasement is nothing new nor does it occur due to unforeseen economic circumstances, as politicians and central bankers would have people believe. It is a blueprint the money magicians have followed over and over again throughout the world for thousands of years! A well researched and documented look at this operation dating back to antiquity may be found in the book, The Babylonian Woe.

THE EAGLE AND THE SERPENT

At the beginning of the 20th century, a one Peso coin contained either 1.48 grams of gold or 24.4 grams of silver. This rate had been stable since 1866, around the time Mexico expelled European occupation and a republican form of government was restored.

Monetary stability continued even through Mexico’s decade of dictatorship, revolution and counterrevolutions, which began in 1910. The Mexican people were not aware that they were on the eve of an era of economic plunder that war or revolution could not match.
