Bitcoin stole the headlines in the first week of 2017, rising nearly $200 in the first two days of the year before swiftly giving back those gains and more since.
Quietly, however, gold and silver have gotten off to an excellent start to the year.
Gold began the year at $1,154 and has rarely looked back, rising to over $1,200 on Thursday.
Silver has been similar. It started the year at $15.93 and has gone nowhere but up since and came close to hitting $17 on Thursday.
And all of this comes after gold rose against all fiat currencies in 2016, rising 9% against the US dollar, 13% against the euro and 31.5% against the British pound.
And continued its massive bull run since 2002 with only two down years in the last 15.
What is interesting about gold and silver’s rise so far in 2017 is how it correlates to their rise in 2016.
From the very first day of 2016 gold and silver rocketed higher.
And gold didn’t stop rising until it hit nearly $1,400 in July.
But then, for the second half of the year it was almost all downhill.
Gold stocks followed the same pattern.
Gold stocks nearly tripled, as a whole, from January until August of last year and then fell until the end of the year again.
This is what makes the rise of silver and gold so sharply at the beginning of this year so interesting. If they go on to repeat a similar performance in 2017 it will mean massive gains in the gold stocks.
It is even possible that the downturn gold experienced in the last half of the year may not occur this time. It is certainly possible that gold could remain relatively stationary or even continue to rise. There are certainly reasons why gold could continue to rise, especially if the dollar erodes.
TDV Premium subscribers made massive gains in the first half of last year. And TDV’s Senior Analyst, Ed Bugos, advises on which gold stocks have the most potential.
And, on January 24th, in a live webinar, Ed will be divulging his top mining stock pick for 2017. It’s an incredibly special situation that has the potential to gain 1,000% or more in the coming years.

this is feeling more and more like spam every day.
I flag your content couse SAME SPAM EWERY DAY!!!
Why you geting so hard Down voted Jeff?
His lack of reply is your answer. It's a zombie account. He just has his "articles" automatically copied and re-posted here. He doesn't interact with the steemit community and his claim that he posts exclusive content daily on Steemit is a lie... he's also a notorious scammer that has ripped lots of people off, some of whom have already told their personal stories here on Steemit. Jeff never replies. He just keeps his auto-reposter running and his ignorant cheerleaders continue supporting him.
The votes are automatic as well, likely from a paid service that includes autovoting as a form of "promotion"
Bad when peaple truy to destroy a comunity this way.
It would allways bee a sort of cheeters on ewery kind of platform including monney.
part of the reason is because of streemians steemtrail, it seems to vote for him. As I am on it and see me voting for him every once in a while.
Edit: I have just now left the trail as I would like to have more power to know that my vote is going to something that I support! Even though I see that he has brought a lot of users to steemit, I feel his lack of responses on his post are showing that he does not care about the platform and the users on it.
I am not really a cheerleader, yet I have been voting for jeff automatically every once in a while because I am on streemian and steemtrail seems to vote for him.

one of the other reasons is that Jeff blocks his victims on facebook. Rich Meister is one who came here to steemit because Jeff blocked him there. Steemit doesn't work like facbook so it's not as easy to conceal what's really going on.
Yeah, that is pretty shitty! It is amazing though how this guy is so good at marketing that he has brought more people here than anyone else. Yet that doesn't excuse him from past people he has wronged but I guess that is why @dantheman still supports him! Yeah steemit is slightly the opposite of Las Vegas; What happens on steemit, stays on steemit for all the world to see!
Cool. I'm checking your stuff out now. 'Can't say I ever met a didgeridoo player before :)
Oh, thanks. Yeah well now you can say that you have ^_^ Here is a video of me playing the didgeridoo! Would like to have more consistent creations or branding like you do.
Ahh i see, yess you have a good point.
He should defently reply, on comment .

Well, you can only do so much harm to people without it coming back to bite you eventually. Karma is a bitch.
Yess defently.

I just wish that Goldmoney transaction had cleared earlier... anyway with the coming crisis precious metals are a must!
Gold is increasing in value because our large bills are being done off the federal reserve system as in we are trading gold to print dollar right now, right? I noticed my large bills stopped having letters on them and instead the reserve logo and dollars letters are getting really low like a's and b's which seems so odd because they used to be g through l's. I have two a 1 dollar bills right now that scares me for the usd. Seems odd no one talks about how you can track the dollar price by just looking at your bills. It's what I do. Has always been pretty accurate.
flagged as disagreement on whether this form of auto-reposted content adds value
If he stops completely to post on steemit, will this add value?
When his posts are on steemit too doesn't that mean that SOME people while googling will be directed here?
Am I wrong to assume that having all the content of the world duplicate on steemit does ADD some value?
All the content in the world could not receive rewards of $100/post. I'm not suggesting anyone not post; votes are to allocate rewards.
True, and the vast majority of it SHOULD NOT imo, but this is not what I meant.
anyway...
Trying to allocate rewards with this kind and scale of downvoting just doesn't sound right imo, that's all.
Nothing is perfect. We all just do the best we can with the tools available.
DO you mean someone else posted this on steemit too? If so can you point me to the original?
Reposted from a web site
Can you point me to the website? It would surprise me if he ripped off the article.
I did not say it was ripped off. It is autoreposted from his own web site. There is nothing inherently improper about doing that but I don't see value in consistently rewarding it with automated autovotes as well.
