Great post! I would also recommend that anyone looking to start a business in the USA contact their local SCORE chapter. SCORE is a free government program to help entrepreneurs launch and be successful. They will pair you with an experienced business person as a mentor.

Yes and no!
Going back to when I was 16 I went to a government provided business support like what you was saying. Originally I was looking at building computers and they gave me advice. That is small thinking and the advice from them was good for small thinking.
Roll on 1997-1998 I was starting a magazine. I went and asked their advice and there response was work on something for your own size, don't attempt it. Well nay sayers - I managed to get my magazine accepted by newstrade - now that is something only 1 in 4 magazines get. And that is from established magazines not a new kid on the block @fotosdenada . I got accepted for 50,000 copies every 2 weeks.
Now the original Generation X Magazine did not launch and did not launch because of funding. My advice is take it with a pinch of salt what these SCORE chapter, etc will give you in a way of advice. Small people can only give small advice. If you are doing something that is same as everyone else, small, etc then they can be a great route for advice, but try and do something great, especially young and these people will generally keep you small.
Create a great day,
