Good morning bloggers, readers, lurkers! Lets tackle the new week with fresh thoughts and lets see what's going on around us.

Decentralized Twitter

What? On April 6th, Patrick Stanley, a Blockstack partner and enthusiast, announced that he is playing around with an early version of decentralized Twitter on the Blockstack platform. Here's what the original Twitter looks like:

So what's Blockstack? Blockstack is essentially a platform that makes use of the blockchain (minimally, as they claim, to bypass the various limitations specific to the blockchain). The idea started when the leaders behind the project saw breaches of user data, more and more, breach after breach, increasing in amount and severity. What they bring to the game is - decentralized identity, domain name system, decentralized storage network - all these together create a decentralized application platform, where developers can create apps with ease.

According to the Blockstack peeps, users own all of their data, need only one Blockstack account and due to that they are already onboarded to every one of the Blockstack apps already.

The decentralized Twitter is not ready yet, but the apps list on blockstack.org is growing. Looking at details of the messaging app Stealthy - your data is initially stored on a Microsoft Azure Blob, but can be rerouted to your own cloud-based storage solutin if needed. The technology is open source, so there is bound to be a community building around it.

bitcoin.com

What news of Portsmouth, New Hampshire? Well, nothing except that there are two blokes who decided to open what they call the first physical retail-targeted Bitcoin store called the Free State Bitcoin Shoppe.

bitcoin.com points out the the store only accepts cryptocurrencies for the merchandise. Should you not own any but really really need their stuff, the clerks will help you set up your crypto wallets and teach you how to fund them.

The store owners, Derrick J. Freeman and Steven Zeiler are both eager crypto-enthusiasts and hence, most of the merchandise in their store revolves around cryptos as well. For some, their shop can be a neat little gateway to the cryptoworld, as the owners will educate and do everything in their power, to make your transition to cryptos a walk in the park, for some, it might just be a trinkets shop.

Personally, i'm looking for more ways to pay for everyday stuff with my holdings. An excellent initiative nevertheless. I dare all you other merchants to follow in their footsteps.

Time to end this post an an easy note. Lets bring this always-funny comic back into the light and remember to laugh at ourselves once in a while.

That store is awesome.

It is great that someone is taking care of teaching people about the crypto world. I know a lot of people who are scared of it. In my opinion, the future will bring more and more similar shops and we will be able to pay in cryptocurrencies everywhere.

Thanks for this post, I'm waiting for more information about this project. Keep doing :)
