RE: 6/23 FREE Bitcoin Daily Updated Faucet List and some Altcoin Faucets

in #money9 years ago (edited)

Hi Kenny,

I haven't tried any of these listed sites, or any faucet in the past 3 years, but my general experience has been that the rewards they offer are nowhere near worthy compensation for your time. In return for filling out captchas or watching 30 seconds of an ad, you get maybe 1/1000th of a cent of BTC or some altcoin; not worth the effort by any standard!

While they could potentially be useful for learning to play with an altcoin you have 0 of, they generally require an accumulation of enough value to "withdraw", meaning visitng the faucet 10's to 100's of times in order to get paid once, and still seeing maybe 1 collective cent of value. Don't get me wrong, this isn't done out of malace, but in order to offset the transaction fee, and to overcome the minimum transaction size, the faucet can't just pay out a decent amount on one visit without costing the person running it more than they profit from the ads. There may be some faucets ran to promote a new altcoin in this fashion, so those I don't discourage you from trying out, if you can manage to find one.

There are also android apps with faucets, such as "free bitcoin", but I can't promise they're not malware. And they also suffer from the aforementioned pitfalls.
