The mighty dollar has it been losing its purchasing power over the years? Well lets look into that.
one dollar in 1900 in 2017 the buying power is worth $27.54. this is insane. What I found very interesting is that in 1900 to 1912 the dollar had the same purchasing power for a solid 12 years. If we go back even further From 1850 to 1912 the dollar is worth the same purchasing power of 1 dollar.
SO WHAT HAPPENED?
well in 1913 December 23, we created or you can say a select few created the federal reserve.
ever since then the dollar or the purchasing power of the dollar has been going down very fast. Let's go into the years. so from 1900 to 1922 the dollar is $1.89. So maybe they inflated only a little bit but that's not to bad getting really close to losing 50% of the purchasing power, but lets do every 10 years from the creation of the fed to see if the federal reserve is helping.
1900 to 1932 the dollar is inflated to $1.54, 1900 to 1942 the dollar is inflated to $1.84, from 1900 to 1952 is $2.98, from 1900 to 1962 $3.40, from 1900 to 1972 is $4.71, 1900 to 1982 is $10.87, from 1900 to 1992 is $15.80, from 1900 to 2002 is $20.26, now from 1900 to 2017 is $27.54.
so we can look at that over the years inflation has been very harsh on the American people.
What do you think about the federal reserve?
thanks for reading!!!
I got my information from this website below

Yeah leaving all your money in the bank is a terrible idea. It'll be eaten away by inflation. Should invest most of it with a little buffer for emergencies.
for those buffers would you invest into gold and silver or even into food and resources?
yes, I hope this future movement of bitcoin can replaces this old may of currency. Do you think Bitcoin can replace the dollar?
If you just saw Venezuela's inflation! It is just crazy (highest in the world right now), with an 808% inflation rate in the last year. 1 USD is currently worth 8000 bolivars, and when I was kid (like 10 years ago), it was at just 1 bolivar (actually 1000 bolivars but years after they removed 3 zeros from the currency).
wow insane, do you think the government should be punished for these actions since they are stealing our purchasing power and wealth?
Pretty much everyone who holds an important position in the current government should go to prison, and we all hope that happens. Venezuela's current situation is just crazy, we're under a blatant dictatorship. Even the president, Maduro, said today: "What was not possible with the votes, we will get it with the guns"
I live alone and spend at least $120-150 a week at the grocery store. Granted, I'm a guy and I spend 12 hours a week in the gym, but that's a lot of money to feed one person. I shop incredibly smart as well. The value of what we get, both in quantity and quality, has dropped significantly over the years, and I'm not simply talking inflation backlash. The cost of living, what our dollar can do, and what we as consumers walk away with is all too depressing as of late :(
yes, I mean i find it crazy that they want $15 dollars an hour and this will jack prices for food and materials for all. When i was young (not to sound old) 1 dollar at the arcade could last you about 7 games but now its just one if your lucky...... these ppl need to see what is happening.
