From what I've read, they are already working on things like this. Like any technology, it will take time to evolve and develop. I remember using floppy drives and feeling super excited when I could burn to a CD the first time. That took almost 20 years even after Apple IPO'd. Now all my data sits in the Cloud.
Here are some cool videos that I've watched on YouTube that helped me understand how things might change:
Recap on what money is:
How will this affect society:
If you want to know what people mean by society 3.0 watch this by Johann Gevers:
A great ted talk by Galia Benartzi:
Is it technically possible?
(this is a long video - be warned, but worth watching, even if like me, you don't understand all of it the first time you watch it)
Much shorter video from Charles Hoskinson that's easier to understand:
What are others saying?
"But JPMorgan said this won't work and I should stay away". Don't worry, there are always early and late adopters to any technology. Watching these videos from the 70s and 80s really helps put things into prospective - these are also really fun to watch with hindsight:
1981 Interview with Steve Jobs about "Computers":
1981 Early internet adopters:
1995 Bill Gates explains the "Internet":
1980s NBC news on "Mobile Phones":
Even smart people get it wrong sometimes:
