There's one class of people who make out like bandits without much justification: CEOs and board members of major corporations. The pay gap between them and the workers has shot through the ceiling in recent decades. The shareholders of major corporations agree to pay the management extremely well because if said managers fuck up, it can cost billions. Hence the need to hire the very best. But the economy did very well, in fact, much better than now when the top tier of corporate management was paid vastly less. However, it would be hard for the government to cap it because that should be done at least in Europe and America all at once.
