The goal of this quick guide is to give you a clear direction when submitting your applications to join CPA networks.
It's not possible to guarantee that you will get accepted by every single network that you apply for. In fact, if you're new to the CPA industry, chances are that you will get several rejections.
It's normal and you shouldn't feel discouraged if you get some of your applications denied.
You need just one or 2 good networks to get started with CPA and if you submit a few applications using the process below it will be very easy to accomplish this.
Ready? So, let's go to the fail proof process!
Choosing CPA networks
It's important that you choose the CPA networks you want to work with very well.
You want to work just with serious companies that have been in the industry for a while and that are trustworthy and have a good reputation.
If you decide to join a company that you haven't heard of before, always make some research and find out what other publishers and advertisers are saying about that company.
Also, test new networks with small campaigns and just do more volume with them when you're confident and know that they pay on time.
Here are some of the companies I recommend:
MaxBounty Peerfly Global Wide Media Convert2Media Clickbooth NAM Offers Envyus Media GetAds
Once you're done choosing the networks that you want to join it's time to start submitting your applications.
Submitting your applications
Submitting an application to join a CPA network is usually very simple, you just need to go to their website and find the form that you have to fill out to apply as a publisher.
When completing the form you don't have to lie or pretend to be a super affiliate, just be honest and tell them the truth.
Besides your personal information, they may request some details about the offers that you're interested in running and the promotional methods that you intend to use.
If you're not sure about this, just wait until the end of the training to start submitting the applications so that you will know the details of the methods.
Most networks will also ask you to supply a website URL to show them where you will be driving traffic from.
If you don't have a website, don't worry! You can simply put google.com and explain that you won't be driving traffic from a website, but that you will run paid ads and will use specific landing pages for each offer.
In fact, this might be the best answer even for people who do have a website!
Once you're done with submitting the application, you need to call the CPA network. Many networks get hundreds of applications every day and often times are unable to review all of them properly.
So, if you don't give them a call it may take a long time until they get back to you or they may even reject your application without properly reviewing it.
Many beginners are scared to get on phone with the affiliate managers, but this is actually a very simple task and I'll tell you exactly how to to proceed to make this a smooth, nice experience.
The phone interview
You should call the CPA network right after submitting your application.
Even if your spoken english is not good, don't feel afraid to do it.
Affiliate managers are usually very kind and gentle and they're used to talk to many people all around the world who also don't speak english very well, so they'll be patient with you.
Make sure that it's business time for them (see where the company is located) and give them a call.
When you talk to the attendant, ask to be transferred to an affiliate manager to discuss your application and expedite the approval process.
If you get transferred, then explain that you submitted an application and would like to have it reviewed soon.
Also ask if it's possible to do the phone interview immediately or, in case it's not possible, schedule a time in the near future.
If the attendant doesn't transfer you to an affiliate manager, then try to add the affiliate managers of that network on Skype and talk to them as soon as they accept your contact request.
You can get their IDs on this website: www.affpaying.com
When submitting a contact request, use a message like this:
"Hi, my name is {your name} and I'd like to discuss a publisher application for {network name}"
When talking to the affiliate managers, don't try to fool them and pretend that you're a super affiliate or have a lot of experience in the industry, just be honest.
Remember that the affiliate managers want to find out just 3 things when talking to you:
#1 - Will this person get us into trouble?
They're always concerned about affiliates using illegal methods and getting their company into legal problems, so make it clear for them that you will be using only legal and ethical strategies for promoting the offers and that you won't become a problem for their legal department.
#2 - Will this person turn our network into their testing labs?
They don't want to work with newbies who are completely clueless about what they're doing and that will join their network just to test a bunch of methods and, even worse, turn their affiliate managers into their coaches.
Affiliate managers are not there to teach you how to promote CPA offers, so make it clear for them that you have proper guidance and have a direction to follow.
#3 - Will this person drive bad traffic to our offers?
CPA networks have to protect their advertisers from junk traffic and leads, so they don't want to work with affiliates who will be using ineffective traffic sources. That's why it's important that you review the training first and explain to them that you will be using strategies that will drive quality traffic and leads to their partners.
Common questions & answers
Along the application process you will probably have to answer some "default questions" that the affiliate managers always ask to the new publishers.
Below are some of those questions and the answers I suggest you to give them.
Q: What traffic sources will you be using?
A: I'll be using social ads (Facebook) and 2nd tier display networks (media buying platforms).
Even if you get started with free traffic, eventually you will be turning to paid advertising. Also, it's better to say that you'll be using paid ads because that's what the top affiliates do, so they will be more confident about the volume and quality of your traffic.
Q&A:
Q: What verticals/niche are you interested in?
A: I'll be running gaming, survey and freebies.
Those are some of the best/easiest niches for social and display traffic, so this is a good answer that will make sense when put together with the other one above.
Q: What's your budget for advertising?
A: I have around $5,000 for investing in my initial campaigns. I'll be able to invest more in the future for scaling profitable campaigns.
You don't really need that much, but it will show them that you're serious about this business and that you want to take it seriously.
Q: Do you have proper guidance?
A: Yes, I do have an experienced CPA marketer who will be assisting me with my first campaigns, so I'll have a clear direction and will be using effective strategies.
You can also mention my name if you want as many affiliate managers know who I am.
Q: How much volume will you be doing?
A: I'll be starting with low volume for testing campaigns (initial budget of $5,000), but I'll probably be able to generate 4 figures a day when I find the first winning campaigns.
Don't try to lie and say that you will be generating a lot of traffic and leads right out of the gate, just be honest.
Q: What tools will you be using for tracking?
A: I'll be tracking my campaign with Volume
You can actually mention any other tracking tool, but this one seems to be gaining popularity recently, so it's probably a good answer.
Q: Do you have an earnings history with another CPA network?
A: No, I don't as I am now getting ready to set up my first campaigns. But I do have proper guidance for entering this industry and will be generating substantial results soon.
Again, just be honest and don't pretend to be someone who you're not.
